You know, sometimes I post something and I think I’m being SO SUBTLE, and y’all clock it right away. And other times I post something and think I’m being SO OBVIOUS and no one notices a thing. It cracks me up!
In Monday’s post, about the Fanta and Sundrop pending adoption, I said They’ll be joining a sweet family with a couple of cat-friendly dogs and some cat-friendly kids!
And then in yesterday’s post, when I said that Sodapop is also now adoption pending, I said She’ll be joining a sweet family with a couple of cat-friendly dogs, some cat-friendly kids, and a couple of kittens to play with.
No one noticed! It’s as though y’all don’t sit and analyze, for hours, every magical word I type.
To be clear: Sodapop will be going home with Fanta and Sundrop, and I am so excited! I’ve never had a mama adopted with kittens before. I recently told Fred that Sodapop is the first mama I’ve fostered where I thought it would be okay if she was adopted with one or two of her kittens. Previous mamas always seem MORE than ready to be done with their kittens, but Sodapop seems to be seeing them more as playmates than her kittens.
So, it’s good news all around!

Moxie says “Look how high I can POP!”
Fanta wanted to see if he could POP! as high as (or higher than) Moxie, but there was an unfortunate mid-air collision, so I guess we’ll never know.
Fred got out Da Bird, and Sundrop was very appreciative.
Then he took a break with Poppi.
Fanta, looking like a flying squirrel.
“I’ve got it!” said Sundrop. (He didn’t.)
Sodapop startled Sundrop, and in response Sundrop floofed his tail.
Poppi’s tail looks kinda floofed, too. (Meanwhile, Fanta’s looking in the mirror, all “Well HELLO, Gorgeous!”)
Fanta checks out the view in another mirror. “Hello again, Gorgeous!”

Khal’s got his toebeans in the air and looks grumpy that I’m taking his picture. “This is not dignified!”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
Sodapop, if you missed the news, is adoption pending! 🎉 🎉
And in case you missed the very subtle clue in this morning’s blog post – “She’ll be joining a sweet family with a couple of cat-friendly dogs, some cat-friendly kids, and a couple of kittens to play with.” – the AWESOME news is that she is being adopted WITH Fanta and Sundrop! How cool is that?!
Outtakes from yesterday’s 10-week pictures: Sundrop with a big ol’ grin, Poppi with a side-eye, and Moxie with a tiny little smirk. (Fanta just sat for his picture and then ran off, no extras from him!)

Mama Sodapop chasing her boys around, and Poppi trying to give me the ol’ slapperoo (and missing by a country mile.)
If you could just TRY to relax, Fanta. Take a few deep breaths, maybe?

Fanta in his crazy pants? How unusual! (Not!)
I LOVE how the “smile” on the cat mirror is perfectly situated under Poppi’s eyes to look like… what? The bottom of a mask, maybe?
Good night innernets. (Sundrop)

You know, I read that, and I can remember thinking something along the lines of “Wow, in addition to kids and dogs, they just adopted a couple of kittens and now decided to adopt an adult cat too”. And that’s where the thought process stopped for me. I guess I was just so happy that Sodapop’s forever family had found her that I didn’t question it any further. But after following you for close to 20 years, I reaaalllly should be better at reading between the lines! :^p
You really should! 😉
Many years ago I adopted a mama cat with two kittens from her final litter. They were incredibly bonded, she never stopped “mothering” them, they always slept together in a tangled cuddle puddle. Mama outlived her babies, she was desolate. I then adopted two new kittens. She accepted them and loved them just as she had her own. She lived to about 23, best kitty EVER!!!
That is so sweet! (And 23 is amazing!!!)
When I read your comment about going to a home with two kittens, I thought “…couldn’t be her OWN kittens, could it?? Naaaaaaahhhh….” I’m so happy for her and her baby boys!!!!
YEAH for Sodapop!!! So excited for her and her new family!
I’m thrilled that Sodapop, Fanta, and Sundrop are going home together. I’d been thinking, seeing the photos of Sodapop with her mini-me Sundrop, that it would be cool if they could stay together. All three is even better!
But I’m guessing that with Sodapop still in the room until all the kittens go home, we won’t be seeing a visit from Uncle Charlie. I’m the teeniest bit disappointed. The floof suits would be epic. (I imagine Moxie marching right up to him demanding to know what he thinks he’s doing.)
Actually, Sodapop and the boys are going home a few days earlier than the girls, so there very well might be floof suits!
Fanta’s face in the mirror during the mid-air collision with Moxie says it all. He is the silliest little rascal. Hilarious!
Is Poppi also a calico? It looks like her tail might be tri-colored, but I just can’t tell. She’s a total cutie either way! Glad for quick adoptions, I always get nervous for the kitties and Mama when the adoptions aren’t as fast.
Poppi is considered a tortie point, I am told. I am so curious to see what she looks like as an adult, when her colors are finished coming in!
For the record, those hints re. Sodapop’s situation pretty much (no, totally) went over my head, and I am not pleased with myself. However, I am beyond happy for that sweet girl and her kittens — this is SO EXCITING!!!
So happy for Sodapop and her babies! That’s how we ended up with our four. A sweet homeless mama cat which I had been feeding trusted us enough to come into our home and have her three babies. We had planned on keeping only her and taking her three babies to Adopt An Angel to be adopted but we just couldn’t separate them. After we lost our last baby,we said we weren’t getting anymore but I guess the cat God’s had other plans. So thankful we kept them together. They are the sweetest little family and have been such a blessing and brought us so much joy!
That is so sweet!!!
I just love this bunch. I’m so happy they had forever families so quick. And yay sodapop for going with the boys.
