The kittens are SIX! WEEKS! OLD! today! Here are individual shots of them in the sun (to show off the current color of their eyes.)
And we can’t forget Mimosa! Not in the sun, but I think you can see her gorgeous eyes just fine.
Mondo and Kudzu, wrasslin’ in the sun.
Hollyhock, rolling around in the sun havin’ a think.
Kudzu’s got Bramble pinned down in the Fruittasan; Bramble shows off his Open Mouth of Outrage.
Mondo and Clover have a snuggle.
So yes, the kittens are 6 weeks old now. They’re all eating solid food (and occasionally nursing). They’ve abandoned the cabinet for the cat trees (though they revisit the cabinet from time to time.) They started using Mimosa’s big litter box so much that I put a second big litter box in the closet, and they use the big litter boxes and their own litter box according to whichever they’re in the mood for, I guess. (Their litter box is actually a long, low storage container. I’m pretty sure Mimosa uses their litter box as much as her own at this point.) They’ve all had their claws trimmed, which they didn’t much care for, but they tolerated it well enough.
Mimosa’s spay surgery is scheduled for April 25th, so I’m sure she’ll go into heat at any moment now, because ain’t that just the way things go?
I have no real predictions for the next week – the kittens will continue growing, playing, eating and using the litter box. They’ve got the basic skills down pat, just need to get bigger and stronger, learn to pose for line-up pictures, tolerate kisses (they’ve done pretty well with that so far), and I suppose it’s time to introduce them to the wonders of Churu. Maybe we’ll get a straight answer from this bunch as far as just WHO is Da BAYbee.

I guess the theme for today’s post is SUNSHINE, because here’s Alice Mo rolling around in the sun.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
That’s a hammock full o’ cute. From left: Hollyhock, Clover, Kudzu, Mondo (back) and Bramble (front.)
Mondo and Hollyhock have a sleepy snuggle.

Action-packed playtime in the kitten room! There’s a lot of wrassling, a spit (I think it was Mondo spitting at Clover, but I can’t swear to it), and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reenactment of Clover’s birth.
I love it when they discover the Fruittasan. (Kudzu on top, Hollyhock and Bramble inside.)
(I got that Fruittasan from Pier1 several years ago. Pier1 no longer carries them, but you can find similar style pet beds at Home Goods and TJ Maxx.)

Clover: playing and sleepy. First Clover tries to figure out the giant Croc bed (watching him stick his legs out the holes and feel around cracks me UP) and then he gets sleepy in the scratcher tunnel. Bonus appearances by, well, everyone. And a few complaints from Hollyhock.

Another action-packed play time in the foster room! Clover & Mondo startle each other, which makes Mimosa yell at me to stop bothering the kids (I didn’t do anything!), Hollyhock’s in my lap with a complaint, and there’s a whole lot of wrestling, slapping, and shenanigans afoot.
Good night innernets. (Hollyhock & Bramble)

I think what I really love about this litter is that everyone is so strikingly different in appearance from each other that I actually know everyone’s name. Oh. And I love that Hollyhock (my favorite) is turning out to be a lap kitty.
I LOVE that they’re so easy to tell apart. That was a real kindness on Mimosa’s part! 🙂
Hollyhock’s complaints – so sweet.
“Scuse me, Lady; perchance you forgot that I require your FULL attention…?”
“The wonders of Churu” is right. My nearly feral foster mama cat knows what the meat treat tubes look like, and although she won’t allow petting, she will lick the treats from my fingers when she reaches the end of the tube.
They were introduced to Churu last night after they got their vaccinations, and it was a big, big hit!
My money is on Kudzu to be the baby
