Does your rescue adopt to wonderful families out of state – say in Milwaukee, Wisconsin?
Forgotten Felines of Huntsville does, indeed, adopt out of the area, but adopters have to come here to Huntsville, Alabama to complete the adoption.
There’s actually an interactive map right here that shows how far people have traveled to adopt Love & Hisses fosters! (Canasta went to Seattle, Washington last spring, and Theo Pesto and Sofia Soy Sauce went to Sacramento, California!)

Oh my! Hollyhock looks so much like my Daisy (formerly Arya) that I adopted from you in 2013! Thank goodness my apartment policy only allows two cats, or I would be hugely tempted to adopt her.
Of course I have to put up pictures for comparison purposes! First, Hollyhock…
And Daisy/Arya, back in 2013…
Yep, there is a definite resemblance!
For newer readers: Arya and her brothers Jon Snow, Brandon and Hodor (aka House Stark) were bottle babies in 2013.They lived in my bathroom for the first few weeks, and then moved into our second foster room after that – we were fostering Khaleesi and her kittens at the time (this was right before Fred started working from home and I lost my second foster room. Boooo.)

Have there been any auditions from the kittens to be Da Baybee yet?
I am 99% sure that Kudzu’s going to be Da BAYbee, but as he’s only 4 weeks old, he hasn’t learned that he’s required to answer the query “Are you Da BAYbee?!” before he can be awarded the title. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

Found the kitten tongue answer from [PetsPipe.com].
Are Cats Born With Rough Tongues
You might also wonder whether or not cats are born with rough tongues. Why do kittens have smooth tongues instead of rough ones?
Well, it turns out that all cats start life with a smooth tongue but gradually develop the papillae as they grow older. As a kitten develops into adulthood, their bodies begin producing the muscle fibers and proteins necessary to form the papillae.
Very interesting – thanks, Holly!

“YES, I know I’m beyootiful, lady,” says Mimosa.
Kudzu comes over to see what Mama’s doing.
The boys were at the milk bar, and Hollyhock came over and said “Hiiii Mama!”
Mondo’s all “She stole my spot!”
Mimosa checks out the scratcher, while Hollyhock goes on a wander.
“What’re you doin’, kid?” Mimosa asks Kudzu.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Throw Back Thursday: Ten years ago (!) we were fostering feral mama kitty Emmy and her 4 kittens. Emmy wanted nothing to do with the humans (she was eventually adopted as a barn cat and last I heard she was very happy getting to live life on her own terms), but the kittens were perfectly friendly (they were with us from birth until 3 months), and they were goofy little characters. From left: Newbery (the only boy), Darwin, Razzie and Logie.

TBT: 2020, when we were fostering the Mewsketeers. One of the MANY goofy things I do with kittens is yawn at them so I can get a picture/video of them yawning. It works, but it’s got to be one of those big, loud yawns. I love how the kittens are all looking at me like I am NUTS.
Someone asked yesterday if Hollyhock fits completely in the scratcher, so I took these pictures of her. She fits perfectly! (She LOVES hanging out in that scratcher.)

Hanging out in the kitten room… Mimosa is hungry, and she doesn’t hesitate to let me know!
Bramble’s trying out his sharp little teeth on the crate. The first litter of kittens I fostered in that crate was back in 2013, so I would say that it’s holding up really well – all kittens love to chew on this strap, climb up the mesh side, and bite the zipper. The crate might be a bit battered, but I have no complaints about it. (It was made by Nature’s Miracle – they don’t make them any more – and measures 36 inches by 25 inches and is 25 inches high. And it folds up for easy storage!)
Good night innernets. (They still return to the crate (on their own) to sleep most of the time.)

2021: Canasta is kind of fascinated by that scratcher – I think she’s a bit baffled by the fact that the kittens can go through the tunnel.
2020: “Are these kittens a prank, lady? They feel like a prank. Come here and let me double-slap you.”
2019: Family portrait, kinda.
2018: “This one’s kinda cute, lady.”
2017: No entry.

2015: If YOU were hugely pregnant and had just eaten a large snack, you might find yourself a little belchy, too. DON’T JUDGE.
2014: Eventually, both gum balls ended up at the bottom of the stairs, where I stepped on them.
2013: “Don’t you go riling up my babies, lady.”
2012: “Do NOT boop my nose, lady!”
2011: Ohmygod, SO RUDE, taking pictures of the pregnant lady from behind.
2010: “I! HAZ! A! COMPLAINT!”

The video of you yawning for the kittens worked. I had to yawn before it was over. Also, in the last picture, Clover looks a lot like a sand cat.
