It always starts out so sweet.
Grooming themselves and each other.
“I lubs you, too. You’re the best brudder a guy could have.”
But in an instant, without warning, it all goes TERRIBLY WRONG.
“YOU ARE THE WORST BRUDDER EVER.”
Then they stomp off in opposite directions, where they fume and sulk for hours.
LAYDEEZ AND GENTLEMEN!
IN THE CATEGORY OF CUTEST KITTENS EVER
THE NOMINEES ARE:
(The kitten formerly known as Charcoal) Logie! (Named by Lesley after the Logie Awards.)
(The kitten formerly known as Stripey1) Newbery! (Named by Catsy after the Newbery Medal.)
(The kitten formerly known as Stripey2) Darwin! (Named after the Darwin Awards.)
(The kitten formerly known as Stumpy) Razzie! (Named after the Golden Raspberry Award.)
So there you go – they’re named. And now I have to write myself a cheat sheet so I’ll learn their names and stop using their nicknames!
Kittens and Emmy are continuing to do well. I’ll admit that they’re a little boring at this age because all they do is eat and sleep and scream like big ol’ babies when they realize they’re more than three inches from their mama. They’ll be lots of fun in a few weeks, but for now most of what I do is sit and watch them.
As you can see from her picture above, the kitten formerly known as Stumpy, who is now Razzie (heh, had to look at my cheat sheet!) is starting to open her eyes, right on schedule.
Would you look at that smug little face?
“I HAZ A COMPLAINT AND MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THAT HUMAN KEEPS TOUCHING ME TO MAKE ME KICK MY LITTLE BITTY LEGS AT HER AND SHE THINKS IT’S CUTE AND MAKE HER STOP.”
This lasted for about half a second and then she realized she wasn’t next to her mama anymore, and then she started screaming.
I’m not 100% sure who this is. Probably Newbery.
Logie climbed behind Emmy and then just kind of sat on her shoulder.
And now for your Emmy-and-babies video of the day!
The little legs kicking around just kill me. SO FREAKIN’ CUTE.
Here’s the video I found while poking around on my hard drive. It’s from mid-February, and consists of Everett, Sally, and Lucy Peppers leaping around like monkeys. Also present were Corbie, who got in some swipes at da bird, and Elwood, who was trying to figure out why I’d moved the litter boxes to either side of the room (because I wanted to keep them out of the video. You see how well that worked.)
This picture makes me laugh – it totally looks like a set that we put together deliberately and then put Sugarbutt there to pose. He’s doing a nice Glamour Shots pose, isn’t he? I love the way he’s looking at that feather teaser.

At least Elwood and Jake get some luvin’ in before the het starts!! With my two, it was just the het… although they’ve mellowed and now it’s mostly just ignoring each other. Oh well.
The kittens are still adorable, although I am crushed that NONE of my naming choices were used! Where did my evil plan go wrong? Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess. Maybe an evil island over a sting ray pool…
Happy Wednesday!
My two furgirl sisters are exactly the same as the two brudders. They will be licking and snuggling and in the blink of an eye, racing and chasing and fighting.
The babies are so adorable. Emmy looks like such a good mommy. Congrats, Emmy!
Yeah, my boys do the same thing. One minute they’re immersed in a bro-mance, next thing you know one’s decided he’s had enough with getting in touch with his feminine side and stomps off in a huff. Not before landing a good smack or two of course.
Oh those Noms are just so nomable.
The video…with the flailing leg…did you notice Emmy has that poor baby in a head lock? Ha
That is a fab pic of Sugarbutt! It does look staged π
I have a Stumpy! He started out as Stumpy Joe but is now just Stumpy. His mom was a nub tail and he was the only kitten from five that had the same tail. Emmy is a good mommy, she loves, loves, loves those babies!
I want to adopt Emmy and Darwin! So beautiful – so cute!
When my two sister cats get all snuggly, I say to myself “it will all end in tears.” And it always does, lol.
Emmy is so darling with her babies.
Whenever Trixie and Jinx have a “lickfest” as I call it, it always turns into wrestlemania at the end! Trixie starts it, but can’t finish it because Jinx has a couple of pounds on her. So she ends up squealing and gets in my lap, which is offical “sanctuary”. This is what I get for spoiling the runt of the litter – I created a pesty little sister for poor Jinx! π
I’m so glad Catsey picked Newbery!! Some of my favorite childhood books were Newbery Medal winners, so I was pulling for that name. But all the beautiful wee babes got great names!
I don’t know if it’s Sugarbutt’s solid marmy-ness and lack of white, or what, but he always looks so densely furry and pet-able!
you have eyeballs!!! I’ve got one that is starting (posting picts tomorrow) but the rest are refusing to look at me π
I love the “snugglebunnies” picture so much!!! π
I have it on good authority that the brothers are on opposite sides of the political fence. Ellie-Bellie can get quite impassioned about pork-barrel entitlements and earmarks.
I knew that Stumpy (ummm, Razzie) was a prodigy! Look at her giving you the side-eye already! And little Darwin is clearly model material. She’s smiling for the camera and she can’t even see it yet π
I can’t wait to see what kind of coloring Little Miss Charcoal (oops, Logie) will have when she grows up. So unique!
Jake and Elwood are just like my kids… without the licking.
Robyn, have you seen this? http://cheezburger.com/View/5933766656
The video made me think of it. Now please kiss each of the little Nominees right above their nosies.
Sugarbutt, cat super model! Yeah, I can see it.
There are some differences in the eye mark and the nose mark on the stripey twins, those head shots helped! Great names!!
Love the looney lovey fighty boys!
Oh, hey, the land down under gets a look in! “Shanks”, lady for using Logie. and one such a cutey, too…:)
Last night two of my boys were racing around the house warming up to a smackdown and I’m pretty sure there was no mutual washing before hand. such hot tempers those kids!
My youngest one and my eldest one. Kids!
