You got a right cute house full of kittens lately, have you ever had 2 batches cooking at the same time like this?
We often have two batches at a time, though it’s usually just a few weeks at a time. SOMEONE is not crazy about that. (That SOMEONE is Fred, who thinks that one litter at a time is more than enough. I have promised him that we will not take more kittens until the Crumbs have moved along, so that’s a couple of months.) If I were left to my own devices, I’d probably have kittens stuffed in every crevice of this house, so it’s probably good that I have him here to be the voice of reason!

Crumpet looks like she’s maintaining weight in spite of feeding five kittens.
She is definitely not the skin and bones we’re used to! I would say she is maintaining her weight well – though I can’t give you numbers since she prefers not to be on the scale, and I am not inclined to push her on that front. She has a good appetite, is not picky (though she doesn’t like it if you give her the same food for several meals in a row, so I’ve been changing things up regularly), and her spine isn’t prominent, so I am happy with how she’s doing!

Uncle Newt gives Dewey the ol’ snifferoo.
Khal was minding HIS OWN BUSINESS, hanging out in his favorite spot, and along came KITTENS.
Louie’s all “He IS pretty magnificent.”
Charlie was having a snooze, and along came Dewey, all “Hi, Unca Charlie. Is there room in that bed for me, too?”
Uncle Charlie held Dewey down and gave him a bath (Dewey’s one eye peeking up from under Charlie’s humongous back foot is cracking me UP.)
And then Uncle Charlie said “The bed’s all yours, kid.”
Does Louie have a little crush on Uncle Khal?
I’m gonna say yes. And isn’t Khal THRILLED about that.
We had a stranger in the house yesterday – our air unit is on the fritz YET AGAIN (fortunately it’s still under warranty), and so the guy had to come out and look at it and figure out what was going on. I thought for SURE that the Ducklings would vamoose as soon as they realized there was a stranger present, but that’s not what happened. What happened is that they kind of froze where they were while Fred was talking to the guy, and then the guy went upstairs to do whatever he needed to do, and then he went back outside. As soon as he went back outside, Dewey and Louie came up to tell me ALL ABOUT the fact that there’d been a stranger in the house. When he came back in, they kind of retreated to the other side of the room, but each time he came in, they were less scared. By the end of his visit, Dewey was following him around and even – gasp! – let him pet him a little.
I found that all very interesting – because I know how they are with us, and they warmed up to their new family, who came to visit them several times, but you just never know how they’ll react to strangers. Dewey has the makings of a “helper,” I think.

All 5 in the bed, barely. You can see Pita, already making her move to run out of the bed to me. Awww.
Rude little kittens, just climbing over Mama on their way to wherever they’re going.
I don’t know what caused it, but check out Ciabatta’s floofed tail!
Crumpet’s all “Did you make him floof his tail, lady?”
“DID you?!” (I did not, but I’m not sure Crumpet believes me.)
I guess it’s time for a bigger plate!

Uncle Newt’s an honorary Duckling, it appears.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
It’s Pi Day AND it’s Throw Back Thursday, so today I’ll be posting just a few of the pie pictures I’ve taken over the years. (I have about 500 of them!) Here are Kim Wexler and her adopted kitten Mike, from 2022. (You can see Kim on Instagram at @thewexlerfamily and Mike (now Milo) at @az_cardsharks (both Instagram and Facebook).
Happy Pi Day & Throw Back Thursday: from 2018, we have a 5-kitten pie! These are some of the Olympians: black kitten Debi in the back, orange kitten Scott next to her, meezer Picabo in the middle, gray kitten Tessa next to her, and in the front is floofy girl Oksana. (They were named after skaters, except Picabo, who was (is?) a skier.)
Happy Pi Day & Throw Back Thursday! From 2018, here are some of Les Chatons – kittens of Margeaux, now Elfie, who you can follow on Instagram along with her BFF Neko (formerly Katriane) at @keepingtabbies . In the back, with the back of his head toward us, is Luc. Next to him, Henri. And on the right, Josephine. In the green collar in the front is Fleur, and in the front right is Gabrielle. (You can follow Josephine and Gabrielle on Facebook here and Henri on Instagram and Facebook.)
Happy Pi Day & Throw Back Thursday! From 2020, we have Clyde Bunny (front) and Lola Bunny. 🐰🐰
Happy Pi Day & Throw Back Thursday! In 2020 we fostered him as Aramis, one of the Mewsketeers litter. You now know him as permanent resident Uncle Charlie! I only wish that I could talk him into hanging out in a pie plate these days to show how huuuge he is compared to back then, but he won’t go for it because he’s just MEAN.
It’s not only Pi Day and Throw Back Thursday – it’s also Thlurrrpsday, and as such please admire this triple-thlurrrp situation. From left: Huey, Dewey, and Louie. (And yes, this picture is thanks to Churu!)

Babka’s trying to sleep, but apparently Pita’s in charge of making sure everyone stays clean so she cleans (and bites) Babka’s ear, and then cleans her own paw. Busy, busy girl.

Love the throwback pics, especially with the pie pan in place of a clown car! What is the most kittens you have in the pan at one time? Have you ever kept track of that metric?
I have not kept track of that, but I don’t think more than 5 or 6 would fit at once!
I love the interaction between the uncles and the Ducklings!
I finally figured out how Uncle Newt looks like to me! In the Duck pie plate his face looks like a mountain lion’s! I live in Central CA, in the Sierra foothills and we have mountain lions. I have never seen one but still have a weird obsessive paranoia for them. He’s a beautiful specimin and love that he and Charlie are kind to the kitten residents! Thank you for my every morning kitten fix!
I was just coming here to say the same thing. He looks like a mountain lion for sure.
I can definitely see the resemblance to a mountain lion!
Are the babies in the kitten room with the Ducklings? I don’t see them interact but it looks like the room.
No, they’re in my office. I don’t think Crumpet would deal well with older kittens around her kittens, she’d see them as a possible threat.
Are the ducklings going home today?
