This basket/bed was an impulse purchase off of Amazon (this one) and I don’t care for it (the kittens were pretty “meh” about it). When I buy a basket bed for the kittens, I want one where the sides are strong and withstand kitten shenanigans, and the sides on this one were too floppy. I love the one basket I have (the one I pile all the toys into) which the kittens love, but it’s getting old and naturally the INSTANT I bought the basket, the company went out of business. So I’m on the lookout for a replacement – but I’m not in any hurry, because the basket I have is holding up pretty well. I’m just aware that it won’t last forever because: kittens.
Line ’em up! Left to right: Louie, Dewey & Huey. They’re wondering why I’m waving my arm around and telling them to look at me. “We is tryin’ to play, lady.”
Louie and Dewey winding down toward nap time.

Crumpet has such a sweet face.
Crouton’s havin’ a think… and Ciabatta’s sliding out from the space between the crate and the wall. (Yes, I could slide the crate away from the wall to make a bigger space, but I think we all know they wouldn’t find that nearly as much fun.)
Pumpernickel’s in the crate, feeling nostalgic for his younger days. “I remember it being bigger!”
Babka in the bed, keeping an eye on me.
Ciabatta and Pumpernickel in the bed.
Ciabatta’s all “I made it up here, what do I do now?!” (He climbed back down, is what he ultimately did.)
Pita the lapkitten. (Her eyes are not two different colors, it’s just the lighting.)
Over the weekend the kittens perfected their litter box usage, and even started climbing into Crumpet’s litter box to use it. (I would not have predicted they could get INto her litter box, because it’s a pretty tall one. But they didn’t mind the struggle of climbing in!) So I switched their tiny litter boxes to boxes that are a bit bigger, and added clumping litter to the boxes, since they’ve stopped eating litter.
They’ve mostly stopped hanging out in the crate – they really like that blue and white bed you can see in the pictures above. In fact, most of the time when they all pile up to sleep, it’s in that bed. I have thus far been unsuccessful at getting a picture of them all in there, because the INSTANT I walk into the room they pop awake and come flooding out of the bed toward me. I love how fearless they are at this age!
Ciabatta slipped the tape on one side over the weekend (maybe Friday?) and I decided to leave the tape off, because he was doing a great job at keeping his feet under him. We took the tape off of Pita yesterday, and she’s doing great as well. The tape never held them back one tiny bit, but I’m not sad to see it go!

Newt in the sun, trying to decide whether he’s hungry or not. (Of course he is, and of course he gets whatever he wants.)

Crumpet thinks if she stares at her empty plate hard enough, some canned food will appear (for the record, she has a full bowl of kibble.)
And Pita shows off how well she moves.
Dewey is SUCH a good little napping companion.

I’ve got a lap full of purring Louie, and Dewey and Huey are kicking each others’ butts.
Babka goes for a climb while Crumpet studiously pretends not to notice.

Looks like Crouton’s our first skitterbug. Look at those moves!
Also, Ciabatta slipped out of his tape on one side, so we took it off, and he’s doing good! We’ll be taking Pita’s tape off in the next day or so, I think.
(The tape is to correct a condition known as “Swimmers Syndrome” wherein their back feet splay to the side. Taping their feet/legs together to force them to use them correctly, along with regular leg massages, seems to be working very well.)
Louie’s all “Lady, put DOWN the phone, it’s time for a nap!” (PS: Please check out those gigantic feets!)

Dewey and Louie have a tussle, while Huey minds his own dang business.
Pita’s so cute that I want to grab her up and kiss her 10,000 times.
Having her legs taped* doesn’t stop Pita from anything, including climbing over Mama if Mama is in the way.
*She’s taped due to Swimmers Syndrome, which is when their legs splay out to the side like little frogs. The taping forces her to use her legs correctly – she’s doing so well that the tape is about to come off.

It’s play time in the foster room, Dewey’s been brushed, and everyone’s got a little fuzzy ball to chase.

We’ve got skitterbugs, and a few kittens stuck in fast forward. Their legs just get away from them sometimes!
Babka (with the beauty marks) and Pita love to climb into my lap and fight.
Good night innernets. (Dewey (left) and Louie)

I love that banner pic of the Squash Bugs in the cage begging to be let out so much I can’t stand it! It really made my day, thank you! You got a right cute house full of kittens lately, have you ever had 2 batches cooking at the same time like this? (I’ve only known you since Charles and Caroline.) Anyway, good job, crazy lady!
The family who are getting the Ducklings will have such fun !!!!
If I were adopting Ciabatta, I would rename him “Adolph”.
