Stapler is doing just fine.
I leave the door at the top of the stairs open during the day and have been shutting it at night. Things have been going just fine, so I’m going to start leaving the door at the top of the stairs open at night and we’ll see how that goes. Charlie really likes to sleep in my room at night, so I don’t like to shut him out if I can help it.
On Friday he came up to check out Stapler’s bowl of food and she was like “?!”
And then he took a nap on his beloved Ham-mick, and Stapler told me all about it.
Thus far, Stapler’s only objection is that she can’t go into the foster room any more (I moved Sodapop and the kittens in early Saturday), but she also now gets to go into my office and can sit in the window and watch the birds AND she gets access to the entire downstairs, so I think it’s a fair tradeoff.

As mentioned up there, after scrubbing down the foster room and doing 10,000 loads of laundry, I finally moved the Pops to the foster room early Saturday. They were a tiny bit weirded out at first (after all, the kittens had spent their entire lives in my office!) but it didn’t take any time at all before they were racing around, climbing, and really enjoying having all that space. Judging by how much time Sodapop spent watching the birds in my office, I expected she’d spend a lot of time in the windows in the foster room, but she’s been mostly sticking to floor level.
Hard to believe, but those kittens are 6 weeks old (as of yesterday)! They’re all starting to eat solid food, but still doing plenty of nursing. It’s usually right around when their kittens are 6 weeks old that mamas go into heat, so I won’t be surprised if that happens. Sodapop’s going for her spay surgery next week (the 26th), so it’s POSSIBLE that she won’t go into heat before then, but I’m not holding my breath.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) this weekend.
Happy Pi Day, from this little slice of heaven. (Poppi)

Look look look who it is! That is sweet former foster Tina (mama to Richie, Jeff, Sydney & adopted mama to Carmy). She is doing wonderfully, and looks (and sounds) so very happy! (Thank you Jennifer!)

Posty and Paper Clip were adopted (together) yesterday and went home! Posty is now Rhya and Paper Clip’s Calypso; they were adopted locally in the Huntsville (Alabama) area.
Here’s their “From ‘hello’ to adoption” with pictures from their stay with us.
STAPLER IS STILL ADOPTION PENDING. SHE WILL GO HOME IN APRIL.
“Is it nap time yet, lady?” wonders Stapler. I did worry that Stapler would be bored/lonely without her sisters, but she seems to be fine. She slept at my feet (with occasional trips up next to me for petting) last night, and has been keeping me company while I scrub down the foster room. She’s made just a few trips downstairs to check things out and isn’t sure about Charlie (who’s ignoring her).

I guess “Pops” was a good name for this litter, ’cause they like to POP! up in the air. They’re also perfecting their skitterbug technique, and as it turns out they are VERY good at skitterbugging!
Sundrop is keeping an eye on things from up high.

Good night innernets. (Sundrop)
Poppi and Fanta are all “You weren’t invited to this meeting, lady.”
Stapler gets the ENTIRE Churu to herself, and she’s not mad about that. (Stapler is adoption pending and will go home in April.)

There’s a whole lot of skitterbugging going on – and a little bit of wrestling!

“Mama, your paw smells funny.”
Moxie’s tellin’ secrets and Sundrop’s listening intently (or falling asleep. One or the other!)
We have an update on former fosters Sydney and Jeff! Sydney is now Luna and Jeff is Ike, and they are doing great! Andrea reports: they are as crazy and loving as ever. Our older cat, Sisu, is finally coming around to them and will play tag with them especially at bedtime. Luna has stayed rather fluffy and her stripes are starting to show more and Ike looks and sounds just like mama Tina. They bring us so much joy and entertainment! (Thanks, Andrea!)

Moxie’s keeping Sundrop clean. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
