Last day to submit your address to receive a Love & Hisses holiday card! The last batch will go out tomorrow morning.
Time to let me know if you want a holiday card, with this year’s featured Crooked Acre permanent resident! Go here to Postable, enter your name and address, and your card will be on the way soon. I am happy to send cards to other countries, this is NOT limited to U.S. residents. If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll do my best to fix it.
If you’d like to send me a card as well (never ever required, but always appreciated – I don’t keep track of who does or doesn’t send a card, I promise!), send it to:
Robyn Anderson
1260 US HWY 72E, STE B #130
Athens, AL 35611 USA
(PS: If that link doesn’t work for you, or you prefer not to enter your info (I delete your name and address once I’ve downloaded it), you can email me instead.)

Speaking of the holiday cards, I received a bunch of them in the last couple of days! My scanner has died, but I did a pretty good job of taking pictures with my phone, so check ’em out! Scroll through them below, or see them in the album over at Flickr here.

Wow, when did you go back to a large tree? It’s so pretty! I remember your mantle trees of yore and cool Maine themed ornaments, so we need more pictures! And is that really a tree skirt tunnel?
And you must buy Churu by the barrel!
We went back to a full-sized tree when we moved from Crooked Acres to the previous house – so, six or seven years ago, or thereabouts? I still have the wall tree (hanging next to the fireplace) with the Maine ornaments, and the lit garland on the mantel and the lit wreath, so we have a very bright and sparkly living room! (I’ll try to remember to take more pictures, but no promises!)

I didn’t know there was such a thing as a tunnel tree skirt! Where did you find it?
It’s not really a tree skirt, it’s just a tunnel that happens to fit under/around the tree. I got mine at Amazon (this one) after seeing people on Instagram using them to distract their cats from the tree. Since then, I see that there are actually Christmas-themed tunnels that you can buy on Amazon (I like this one). All three of the permanent residents have gone into the tunnel and hung out in there. None of them have messed with the tree in the past few years (they’ll occasionally bat at an ornament or even pull one off to play with, but none of my ornaments are breakable, so I’m not too worried about that.)

Not to detract from the cuteness of today’s actual post, but as a PSA for newer L&H readers: Please STOP whatever you’re doing and go read the 2009 entry in the “Previously” links. If you have not yet heard the story of Hydrox the kitten and his chicken from heaven, trust me, you NEED to–I’ve been around long enough to remember that post from when it was brand new (egads, was that really 15 years ago??? LOL) and yet I still absolutely CACKLE over it every time it comes back around each year!
Hydrox and the chicken from heaven – always a favorite!

I love the blanket with the sweater cats!
That is a Life is Good blanket, and you can find a couple on eBay, and one on PoshMark, but for the most part it seems to be discontinued. I love it so much, someone sent it to us last year, and I thought it was the perfect blanket for the couch for this month. (The kittens also like it quite a bit – Carmy especially likes to rub his face on it.) It’s very soft!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever heard of “whisker fatigue”? I’ve had cats my whole life (I’m 61) and only just recently heard that this was a thing. It certainly explains alot with my Mork
I have (y’all can read more about it here.) That’s why I try to always use small, shallow dishes (and wide bowls.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those are very pretty socks! Would you be willing to release the brand name?
The company name is World’s Softest (and they are VERY soft!) They’re called Ragg Crew socks, and here’s a link for reference.

And later, shows off his sharp little toofies.
“You can turn the heated blanket on any time, lady.”
It’s a Richie in a box, is what it is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Khal (on the bed) and Charlie (under the nightstand) have some pre-holiday rest and relaxation.
Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/ Bluesky) yesterday.
In case you missed it on the blog this morning, the kittens received a cool tank! (I have no idea who sent it – was it you? If so, let me know!)
Throw Back Thursday: 2015, one of the first pictures of Archie (who eventually became a permanent resident, and passed away in early 2023.) I sure do miss that silly guy. This will always be one of my favorite pics.
Throw Back Thursday: (From 2017) Permanent resident Archie kept us safe from the kitchen towels.
Richie wishes you a Happy #Thlurrrpsday!
Someone sent us this tank, and the kittens think they like it. (They especially like to climb in and tussle!)
This screen shot of a conversation between Fred and his sister (from 3 years ago when we were fostering Ivy) popped up in my memories and made me laugh. (He almost never bothers to remember the names of our fosters – though right now he knows Carmy and Tina… he calls Richie “the good-looking one.” )
Good night innernets. (Carmy & Richie)
