“Psst! Hey, lady, you got Churu?”
Natalie is doing well – now that she’s been with us for a week, she’s really settling in. She knows the routine – when she hears me get out of bed, she’s immediately at the door calling for breakfast. When she hears me come upstairs around bed time, she calls for her dinner. She meets me at the door more often than not, telling me all about what she’s been up to (she’s talkative as I walk through the door, but once I’m in the room she doesn’t actually talk much.) She follows me around the room, obviously waiting for me to sit down on the couch, and then she joins me. I haven’t been able to get her interested in playing with toys while I’m in there, but when I’m not (usually after I’ve gone to bed), she has a lot of fun. Lately she’s been carrying toys up onto the couch and leaving them there, and I can hear her smacking the track toy ball around.
She likes to nap lying on my stomach, so I can report that over the weekend I felt kitten movement. It’s subtle, but definitely there – it’s not visible to the naked eye yet, so I’m going to say we’re maybe two weeks from kittens (certainly at least 1).

“Good morning, innernets. You got Churu?” (Natalie)
Former foster update! It’s Elly May (formerly Janeway) and Jethro (formerly Spock), who we were fostering this time last year as part of the Trekklings litter!
Tammy says: “Well, The Hillbillies turned 1 on July 22 and we celebrated. They got a couple of new toys. An all-in-one laser pointer, feather teaser and ball chase (pictured) and a toy gun that shoots pom poms. I think their favorite part was each getting a Churu – no sharing!! LOL
Jethro is quite the momma’s boy and Elly May still marches to her own drummer. They have grown into beautiful fur-kids and I love them dearly.”
(Thank you Tammy!)
Good night innernets. (Natalie)
Natalie pie for breakfast? Yes, please! (My favorite!)
Former fosters Amber (left; formerly Ambercup, 2015) and Phoenix (2017) have a snuggle atop a gorgeous quilt. I adore that tabby patch above Phoenix’s left eye, and the smile on Amber’s face.
(Thanks, Debra!)

When I tell you that Natalie is a snugglebug, I do not exaggerate one tiny bit. As soon as I sit down on the couch, she comes to be petted (and sit in my lap). If I lie on the couch she either lies next to me, or climbs up onto my stomach to snooze (and be petted.) Try to ignore that lawnmower in the background and enjoy her sweet purr.
Good night innernets. (Natalie)
Now that Natalie’s been here for a week, I feel pretty confident in saying that we’re not going to have kittens in July; in fact, I think she’s got about another two weeks. This is not the first (or the fifteenth) time I’ve gotten a cat someone said was on the verge of going into labor only to realize we had a wait ahead of us. I see it this way: the longer they’re with us before they go into labor, the more they can settle in, become comfy in their surroundings, and put on some weight. Natalie has put on 10 ounces (0.28 kg) in the past week and is pretty darn comfortable here.
Natalie’s motto: Always Be Kneading.

Permanent residents Charlie (gray/silver and white tabby) and Khal/Floomp (big floofy black) in the back yard, hanging out. Those high-pitched baby voices on such big cats will never not make me laugh.
(Our cats are allowed in the back yard during the day; we have a cat fence around the back yard (search “Purrfect Fence”) and they cannot leave the back yard.)
Good night innernets. (Natalie)
