A note: I am not hiding any fosters from you, none are stashed in my bathroom or office or under my bed. I am only SUPPOSED to have one litter in the house at a time, it’s what I told Fred we would do. I’ve been stomping all over that rule for the past little while (I honestly don’t remember when the last time is that I was only fostering one litter – it’s been some time!) and Fred has gotten a little twitchy about it. So I prooomised that we wouldn’t get new fosters until the current batch has gone to their new homes. Therefore, it will be a few weeks at least – the Hopalong kittens are going for their spay/neuters on July 10th, and will be able to start heading home that following weekend.
Y’all are SUCH a suspicious bunch!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My goodness look at Charlie! I really had no idea how big he was until I saw your and Fred’s pictures (even though you told us many times!). I don’t think Oleander and Rhus are that big – do we know about his other litter mates?
None of the other kittens in his litter were actually related to him (in fact, they weren’t all related to each other – Oleander (Constance) and Rhus (Rochefort) were brother and sister, Porthos, Athos and d’Artagnan were brothers, and Planchet, Winter, and Charlie (Aramis) were all singles). Charlie was found in the same general area where Ryder and her kittens were found. Charlie looks SO much like some of Ryder’s kittens that I’m certain they have the same father. Axel’s mom said that Charlie looks and moves just like Axel – I need to ask what Axel weighs these days!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good gosh, Charlie is truly one big cat! Not fat, from the impression I get, just *large* and proportional. Is he part Maine coon or anything? Biiiiig kitty!
We had his DNA done last year (or the year before), and he’s got some Maine Coon in him, but he’s more Russian Blue than anything (which is not something I would have guessed.) You can see his full results on his page, but the top results are:
Russian Blue 20.02%
American Shorthair 18.63%
Siberian 16.67%
Maine Coon 16.37%
Ragdoll 5.18%
Norwegian Forest Cat 5.15%
Broadly Western 4.91%
Siberian, Maine Coon, and Norwegian Forest Cats are all on the large side (I did not know that Maine Coons could get to 30 pounds!), so maybe those explain his size.

If you guessed that Skip was the big leaper of this bunch, you guessed right.
Synchronized leaping, with Mosey and Skip.
Mosey says “I know perfectly well who is controlling that feather teaser!”
Oops. (Mosey’s face is cracking me up.)
“I’ve got it! I’ve got!” says Skip.
Lollygag says “I’m watching you, lady.”

Khal, Charlie and Newt will really fill up a bed.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Breakfast is served – though Mosey has a complaint (probably about the annoying lady hovering over him) and only Dillydally cares to listen.
Throw Back Thursday: 17 (!) years ago, we lived on 4 1/2 acres that we referred to as “Crooked Acres”, and we had orange tabby Sugarbutt and Americauna chicken Fricasee (aka “Frick”) and this picture still kills me dead. To quote my own caption: Is it just me, or do these look like weirdly posed scenes, like something you’d see in the JC Penney catalog? I imagine a photographer yelling “Frick! You WANT him, you want him with every feather on your body, but Sugarbutt! You don’t even notice Frick, you’re just standing there being beautiful. Be beautiful, Sugarbutt! Be beautiful and feisty and unattainable, and Frick! Want him! Want him badly, but sadly, knowing that you can never have someone that beautiful. He’s out of your league! PERFECT!”

The kittens are tussling (if I had just a tiny bit of that energy…)
Left to right: Bolt, Lollygag, Skitter (back; his face is making me LOL), Dillydally (ornj), Skip, and Mosey. We are learning about Churu, and everyone but Mosey is a fan. (Mosey doesn’t get what everyone’s excited about, but he likes to be part of the gang.)

Lollygag chasing her tail in the Toastycat bed, with a little “help” from Skitter. (I’m not sure what it is about the Toastycat that apparently makes it the perfect place to chase your tail, but whatever works!)
Good night innernets. (Lollygag & Dillydally)
