Back in 2020 we fostered the Mewsketeers (this is the same litter our Charlie (then Aramis) came from), two of whom were these little muffins, who were adopted together.
Rochefort (left) and Constance.
Constance is now Oleander, and Rochefort is Rhus. They turned FOUR YEARS OLD yesterday, and Cat sent us a lovely update!
here in muffinland we are prepairing for the big 4!
thats right muffins turn 4 years old this year!!!
they have wrighten pawpaw a card. and think i should give him catnip and tuna.
but they dont know they are geting those things and more for their birthday!!
the past 4 years have been crazy for our family. but oleander and rhus have kept the house afloat with all their very important muffins jobs.
yodeling in the kitchen, meeping at the wall. chittering at birds, moniteering anything pawpaw is doing at the computer, or snoopervising if meemeow is opening pakages. sitting on me if i am sick and keeping me company as i read or game.
they also are very helpful with artwork. picking out (steeling) brushes, observing (steping in) paint mixes, and trying to judge (drink) paint water.
they are experts in the arts of zoomage and nyooming, they have masterd tumbling, and regularly take part in muffinrumbles.
the following was added by oleander herself when i got up for some water. and it made me laugh so i have kept it in:

back to my own typing:
at 4 they are less likly to snuggle up with each other evry day.but still do frequently. they also have developed a habit of wanting to steel each others seat. they are less likly to scream for sillymuffindinner and more likly to whine for treats. they are less inclined to stick their faces in your cup, unless its tea in wich case rhus has to see if he can sneek some. and loly has decided people food has zero intrest to her unless there is abit of runny egg left on a plate.
both continue to greet us at the door , escort us to the bathroom and kitchen, follow us around the house. they particuarly follow me. i try to tell them that im just going to the den to grab a marker but they have to make sure im not having adventures without them. they like to explre cabnets and closists and bring me things they find. particularly if it is brightly colored in rhusys case. or if it is fuzzy in oleanders.
rhus has developed a love for watching me play the switch. or maby he just likes flopping on my chest . but he greatly prefers it to when im reading. in wich case he tends to flop on my legs. he and his sister both join me for book time. iv also started reading goldenbooks to them. they seem to like it. we also play with mousy(the lazer pointer) almost nightly and they have a zoom across the room about it befor bed.
the muffins are the highlight of our lives. we spoil them rotten and i sing to them evry day. and pawpaw sings to them if im staying over at a freinds. they sleep with me at night. sometimes both on the bed. sometimes one on the dresser or in a drawr.but alway in the room with me. unless it is around the fullmoon, in wich case the weremuffin may be upon them. though their weremuffenry is not QUITE as chaotic as it was when they were younger. they are still my world. and i cant wait to celibrate their birthday with them. here is to 4 whole years of muffenry!!
-love cat, oleander and rhus
Thank you, Cat! (For those of you who aren’t already following them, you can see them right here on Facebook!)

Pita update.
Pita was so pitiful Friday morning about desperately wanting out of my office, that I let her out into my bedroom.
“What’d you do to my tall scratchers, lady?!”
Eventually, I let her out into the house and Fred and I kept a close eye on her to make sure she wasn’t overdoing it. She was pretty quiet, and spent the better part of the day either curled up in my lap or curled up in the tiny cat tree by the dining room window.
She had a good day Friday, but right around 5:00 Friday afternoon (ie, the instant the vet’s office closed, of course) we realized that though she was hungry (she had eaten some food earlier in the day), when offered food she would lick at it, maybe eat a bite, and then act nauseated. She eventually settled down for the evening, but at midnight she vomited a LOT. Eventually she settled down for the rest of the night. Saturday morning we were able to pick up Cerenia (meds for vomiting and nausea) and once she got a dose of that into her, she started eating. By Saturday night she was playing a little, eating well, and even wanted to go in and see the little kittens. She had a good night, a good day yesterday (spent a long time playing with/watching the Hopalong kittens), and while I know she’s still healing, which makes her sleep more than she ordinarily would, I’d say she’s very close to normal.
(I am VERY relieved, as you can imagine.)
I’ve been in touch with her adopters – who have been SO patient! – and right now, as long as Pita continues to do well and heals enough that her stitches can come out Friday, then she’ll be going home this weekend.
If you’re interested in what her incision looks like, I took this picture the day after surgery. Yes, she looks VERY pale, but that was the day after a big surgery, and she’s looking much better now.

Bolt’s coming out of the basket to give Skip the business side of her slappin’ paw.
Lollygag up close. Those WHISKERS!
They certainly do LOVE to flip that Toastycat bed and push/drag it all around the room.
Meander wakes up to find that she’s covered in kittens.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
Line ’em up! From left: Mosey, Bolt, Skip, Skitter, Lollygag & Dillydally.
Pita update: she’s doing well! She so desperately wanted out of my office that I took pity on her, and now she has access to the entire house. We’re keeping an eye on her to be sure she’s taking it easy – and rest assured, she is.
Good night innernets. (From all the Hopalong kittens)
Just a little bit of attitude from Mosey, in his heart basket.
They’re still small enough to walk under Meander, and it always cracks me up when they (in this case Bolt) do.

Mosey hanging out on the tunnel with his floof blowing in the breeze… and then a quick skitterbug into the closet! He’s got a full schedule, that one.
“Auntie Alice said I could sleep in her bed. She LIKES me.” (Auntie Alice’s face seems to say otherwise!)

Just hanging out and watching the kittens play. How’d they get so grown up all of a sudden??
Good night innernets. (Skitter & Lollygag)
