This picture of Pita is from before surgery (apparently I have quite a stockpile of them, I realized yesterday morning!)
Pita is doing pretty well – still loopy on the pain meds (I’d rather have her loopy and restless and NOT in pain than quiet and sleepy and in pain!) but she does seem a little more clearheaded than she was the first night. She’s still in my office, but by the 3rd or 4th time I had to rinse out and refill her water bowl because she kept getting litter in it, I decided I’d let her have the entire office as her “crate” and as long as she behaved herself, I wouldn’t put her back in the crate. I’ve removed everything she could jump up on, and so far she’s behaving.

Flaunt ’em while you’ve got ’em, Skitter!
I love the way Lollygag and Skip are crossed here.
Something’s surprised Skitter.
Dillydally shows off her pointy little teeth.
Meander believes she’ll hang out on top of this little scratcher where there’s much less room for kittens to join her.
Mosey in the Toastycat bed. They like to hang out in the bed… when they’re not flipping it over and “driving” it around the room! I never know where I’m going to find that bed when I open the door.
Dillydally, Skitter and Lollygag were napping and I was going to sneak over and take their picture, but they heard me coming. (Look at the SIZE of Skitter’s feet!)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
I imagine pics of Pita will be blurry for the next few days – she’s not inclined to sit and pose for me. She had a restless night last night, but settled down for a few hours and got some decent sleep between 2:00 and 5:00. You’d think pain medication would be sedating, but I’ve never found that to be true with kittens – it makes them restless (though of course that could be because of the anesthesia still in her system.) She’s eating, using the litter box, and even played for a few minutes this morning, so things are going well!
Remember Carson, who we fostered for just a few weeks, and who was adopted last Tuesday? Here he is with his big brother Chet (that’s Carson back there on the couch, Chet next to the container of treats. They look so much alike that Fred couldn’t tell who was who when I showed him the picture.) Things are going well, and Carson has been very playful. (I think I mentioned that he didn’t play a whole lot when we were fostering him. Well, things have changed, turns out he’s a playful boy!)

Thanks to our friends at luli & cat , we have a new tunnel – I mean, I thought it was a tunnel/bed, but apparently Skip, Skitter and (briefly) Lollygag have decided it’s a race track!
The Hopalong kittens are 8 weeks old today!
To answer the much-asked question: No, I don’t see any bonded pairs in this litter. Every now and then I think “Those two seem to be together a lot…” and IMMEDIATELY those two kittens never go near each other again. They all like playing with whoever’s closest, and same with snuggling.
The Hopalong kittens (who are 8 weeks old today) made it hard, but I finally got close up shots of all their eyes. Look at all those shades of blue! The only one who won’t be keeping her blue eyes is Dillydally, who looks like she might have striking bronze eyes once hers are done changing.
Some people say that kittens have their permanent eye color at 7 weeks, but I honestly think it’s more like 3 months. We’ll keep an eye on these eyeballs over the next 4 weeks (I’m going to do my best to take weekly eye pics, but no promises) and we’ll see what happens.
Good night innernets. (Bolt & Skip)
