In case you missed it on social media (or over on the sidebar!), this happened on Saturday.
I delivered her myself to a lovely family who were very excited to get her. She’ll have a kitty sister named Leo, a gorgeous Russian Blue. Her new mom saw her in the window at Petsmart and fell in love. When she met her during adoption hours, Crumpet – who tends to be timid at first – was all over her. It’s a true love match, and I couldn’t be happier for Crumpet (she’ll keep the name) and her new family.
And on that note: Babka, Ciabatta and Pita did go for their spays/neuter on Friday, and it went off without a hitch (I was SO sure I was going to hear that for some reason they couldn’t do the surgery!) Pita bounced RIGHT back (was racing around playing by bedtime), and Ciabatta and Babka weren’t far behind.
Ciabatta and Babka go home this weekend, and Pita will go home next weekend (she’s going to a home with a young kitty to play with, as well as an older kitty.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ciabatta’s all “Uncle Khal said I could play with his toys!” Sure he did.
Pita says “Uncle Charlie didn’t say I could sleep in his bed, but I also didn’t ask, so.”
Babka comes to see what I’m doing.
Skip says “LOOK, Dillydally! I gots a FOOT and you DON’T! HA HA HA!”
Dillydally says “I gots a foot too, but I didn’t tell Skip ’cause it’s none of his business.”
Dillydally and Mosey, in my lap.
“What doin’, lady?” wonders Bolt.
Kinda looks like Lollygag is holding down Skip so Skitter can give him the ol’ chomperoo. (And in the lower right, Dillydally and Bolt consider a tussle.)
Mama has a moment of relaxation. I swear these kittens’ tails have tripled in length overnight.
Lollygag slid through the tunnel to relive her birth experience and says “Huh. That isn’t quite how I remembered it.”
On Friday, with the Crumbs gone for the better part of the day, I took advantage of the morning to scrub down the foster room and…
I had been planning to wait ’til the other kittens went home, but the Hopalongs weren’t getting any smaller and they needed more room, and kitten trees to climb. So now the Hopalongs are in the foster room, and I moved all of the Crumbs’ favorite toys and beds into my office (where the Hopalongs had been.) It was originally my plan to put the Crumbs in my office overnight, but that office is RIGHT off my bedroom and I know for a fact that Pita would be yelling for me to let them out, so I left them out Friday night to see how it went.
And it was fine.
So they’ll get the run of the house all the time ’til they go home. The permanent residents don’t LOVE it, but I don’t think they mind THAT much (especially since it means they get access to the bowl of kitten food). AND the kittens don’t know how annoying I am yet (I move a lot in my sleep, and the adult cats dislike that. I CAN’T HELP IT, YOU INGRATES), and so they’re sleeping with me. I have no complaints to waking up to a pile of purring kittens curled up next to me.
“You woke me up to take my picture?” says Grumpy Newt. Like I haven’t done it one million times before!
Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
If you were wondering who would be the first of the Hopalong Gang to climb into my lap, now you know: it was Dillydally. (This isn’t the first time she climbed into my lap – she’s been doing it for several days – just the first time I got a decent picture of it!)
Pumpernickel and Crouton were adopted yesterday (yes, together) and went home to Colorado. Here’s the video of my favorite pictures I took of them from the day we said “hello” to them (February 5th, the day they were born) to the day they were adopted. ❤
As I walked into the room, Meander flopped down onto the floor and called to her kittens, who came flooding out of the crate. Then some of them came over to check me out and my LORD are these kittens CUTE.
Ciabatta, Pita and Babka (not pictured) DID get their spay and neuter surgeries today! They’re back home, a little hiiiigh from the pain meds, but doing well. Ciabatta immediately stomped over to the CatLadyBox, so naturally we’re referring to it as “sick bay.” Ciabatta and Babka go home next weekend, and Pita goes home the weekend after that!
Good night innernets. (Ciabatta & Pita)
Yep, they’re using the litter boxes (here we see Dillydally and Skip employing the “nobody pees alone” rule) and are doing a great job of it!
Hooray, hooray, Crumpet was adopted and went home today! She joins a lovely family that includes a gorgeous gray kitty named Leo. Her name will remain Crumpet. Her new mom fell in love with her when she saw her sweet face at Petsmart and asked for her as a Mother’s Day gift. Happy life, sweet girl! ❤️
Babka says “Auntie Alice SAID I could use her bed! Okay… maybe she didn’t exactly SAY it, but she implied it. She doesn’t mind, really she doesn’t.”
The kittens show off their litter box skills. (Nothing gross, I promise. Just kittens being cute.)
Kittens at the milk bar, and Dillydally (orange tabby) shows off her excellent kneading technique! (Sorry about the hum in the second part of the video – I had a fan going.)
Lollygag (left) and Skitter, tussling in the pie plate. Lollygag looks like she’s ready for a nap!
I posted these on the auction page and wanted to include them ’cause I think they’re cute!
The auction ends tonight at 7 PM Central Time – until then, keep a close eye on your bids, refresh often – and make sure the drop-down comment menu is set to “Newest” so you see all the other bids before you place yours!
Meander’s an excellent multi-tasker, keeping an eye on her bids while feeding her babies, because she is a FIERCE bidder and she bids high and often. 😉
Don’t sleep on this! The auction ends in ONE SHORT HOUR – have you bid on everything you wanted to? The auction gets a LITTLE bit crazy in the last hour, so please keep an eye on your bids, refresh often, and make sure the Comments pull-down tab is set to “Newest” so you see all the other bids before you place yours. Bids that have a time stamp of 7:00 or earlier are allowed – bids that come in at 7:01 or later are not!
Ciabatta and Babka thank you for supporting Forgotten Felines of Huntsville – we couldn’t do it without you! ❤
