I don’t know what Clairee did – she was just sitting there, as far as I could tell – but it led to Ouiser turning around and giving her A Look.
“Shelby,” I said. “You can do it. Make the leap!”
And she did! Stuck the landing like a pro, too.
She and Ouiser climbed up the scratching post together and sat there.
I had all four of them looking at me, but then Ouiser had something to say to Clairee.
I’m pretty sure I mentioned that there was application in on Shelby – it’s been approved! So Ouiser goes home January 27th, and Shelby goes on January 28th. And Drum and Clairee are still available. I just their people would get a move on!

Would you like to meet the new fosters? You know you would!
Huey. (Medium or long-haired orange boy with a white bib and white feet.)
Dewey. (Medium or long-haired orange and white boy – I’d say he’s about 50/50 white and orange.)
Louie. (Short-haired orange and white tuxie boy.)
They’re named after the cartoons – the nephews of Donald Duck, apparently – and so I’ll call the litter The Ducklings. I’m not super familiar with the cartoon aside from their names, but I think it’s a cute theme.
They are about 5 1/2 weeks old and have been with me since Friday afternoon. They were pulled from an abandoned building in Huntsville – living in garbage, and literally pulled out of the middle of a cinder block. They were stinky and flea-ridden when I got them. They got flea treatment, and then once the fleas were dead I gave all three of them baths (they were not fans of the experience.) I have given multiple butt baths because they (especially Huey and Dewey) tend to have poop clumps on their back ends. Coccidia and Giardia run rampant in the area they came from, so they’re being prophylactically treated for that as well.
They’re in a cage in my bathroom (it’s a big cage with room for them to move around!) for now. Once I’m sure they’ve gotten the hang of the litter box, I’ll take the cage out and let them have the entire inner part of the bathroom to run around and play in. My bathroom has an inner part (where the toilet and bathtub/shower are located) and an outer part (sink), and I like having a bit of an “airlock” between these guys and the Magnolias. They won’t get to meet the Magnolias because they need to be isolated for at least two weeks (preferably longer), and by the time their two weeks are up the Magnolias will be heading outta here.
Overall they’re in pretty good shape. For kittens who (I assume) had never seen a human up close before a few days ago, they’re acclimating to my existence fairly well (especially given the baths and the medication.) They’ve gone from hissing every time I look at them, to the occasional hiss. After a butt bath yesterday, Dewey actually appeared to ENJOY being held. I haven’t heard any purrs yet, but it’ll happen.
“I did NOT enjoy being held, lady, and you are a lying liar who lies!”
Huey’s all “And the horse you rode in on, lady.”
Oh, yes. We are gonna be FRIENDS.

Alice is so thrilled to hear there are new kittens in the house that she can barely contain herself.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
This is the face of a sweet kitten (Ouiser) explaining to me that this toy (a ball made of felted dog fur) is HERS and she isn’t planning to share it with anyone, thank you very much.
You remember Kirk, one of the Trekklings we were fostering just a few months ago, right? Here he is, pictured with his sister Mango.
Rebekah says: “Kirk said he feels he is old enough to have a drink at the bar. Mango said no way mister. Kirk is going to wait it out.” 😆
(Thanks Rebekah!)

Shelby hops around like a bunny, then hops right onto Drum, kicks his butt, and goes along her bunny way. So Drum turns around and dishes it out to Clairee (who holds her own quiet well, thank you.) Just another morning in the kitten room.
Clairee (left) and Drum (right) are still available for adoption. Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. They are NOT a bonded pair and do not have to be adopted together (though of course we always love it when kittens go in pairs.) As long as there’s a playful young cat or kitten in their new home for them to play with, they’ll be fine.
Drum is a super snuggly lapkitten who just wants to hang out with you, sometimes on your lap and sometimes from a distance where he can watch you and give you the blinkety-blink eyes of love (but mostly he wants to snuggle on your lap). When he’s not snuggling, he’s very playful and loves jumping up after ping pong balls that you toss for him.
Clairee is a bit more independent – loves to snuggle at nap time, but otherwise prefers to be near but not ON you, and in fact sometimes she’ll just go her own way. She LOOOVES other cats and can often be found flirting with the other cats in her foster home. She’s also super playful and is especially fond of springs and rattly mice.
We are located in Huntsville, Alabama; out of area adoptions are allowed, but the adopter must come here to complete the adoption. Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire! 😻

The kittens get a visit from Uncle Newt. I love how they’re acting like he’s a complete stranger, even though – I ASSURE YOU – they have come face to face with him about a million times downstairs. But apparently when he’s on THEIR turf, he’s a whole new story. (Newt didn’t stay upstairs much longer – he checked out the litter boxes and then left.)
About Newt: He just turned 18 years old, he moves a little slow, but we started him on Solensia a couple of weeks ago, and he’s definitely moving more easily than he was.
Shelby’s such a sweet little poser.
I don’t know who ordered the spicy triple ginger duckling combo, but your order’s up. Not sure you can handle this much spice, though. (Good night innernets.)
