I don’t know what Ouiser was looking at here, but I’m not sure she cared for it.
It’s a frosted Shelby pie (my favorite!) (See the pictures/text in the social media section for a description of what’s going on with her fur. Kinda neat!)
Drum really loves that window sill on sunny days.
Clairee’s all “Can you tell him to keep his stinky foot to himself?”
Looks like Shelby’s trying to start something.
It’s a Shelby-Drum pie, and looks like Drum’s gonna get the ol’ chomperoo.
Drum’s always up for a tussle.
And they tussled so hard Shelby’s ear turned inside out.

Alice makes herself comfy under the Christmas tree. (Yes, we have a Christmas tree – the cats don’t mess with it. But there’s nothing breakable on it, so they could knock it down twice a day and I’d just sigh and set it back upright.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
REGARDING SHELBY.
1. You may have noticed that Shelby has developed some white patches (especially above her tail) and some all-over white fur, giving her a “frosted” look. I’m pretty sure it’s what is known as a “fever coat” which is believed to occur when the mother develops a fever during pregnancy, and her unborn kittens are exposed to an elevated body temperature in utero. (Stress can cause it as well, so it’s also known as a “stress coat.”) As she gets older (usually by 4 months), the fever/stress coat will go away, and she’ll be “just” a black kitten with some white patches.
2. Yes, she is quite a bit smaller than the other three. At this point, my plan is to wait until she’s big enough to be spayed and then spay/neuter all 4 of them at once whereupon they’ll be available for adoption. Forgotten Felines prefers to spay/neuter at 3 pounds but I don’t think Shelby will hit that weight by 3 months. Her appetite has certainly picked up recently, so who knows? (She’ll be 9 weeks old on Wednesday).
3. No, she is not going to be a permanent resident. (She is also not adoption pending – none of the kittens are – because we don’t know when they’ll be ready to go home.)
Clairee and the tilted head of “What you doin’, weird lady?”

Ouiser has a toy made of dog fur* and she is NOT GONNA SHARE.
*The dog fur came off of a Great Pyrenees dog that had been brushed. The loose fur was sent to me, and I made toys out of it. (The kittens always love those balls of dog fur.) I feel the need to explain this to y’all thanks to the genius who was unaware, I guess, that dogs shed and that fur could be removed from a dog without cruelty. Bless. Her. Heart.
I constantly tell M’Lynn what a pretty, pretty girl she is, and she just looks at me like “Yeah, I know.”

Shelby playing with the track toy (and I love that she’s still small enough to run around IN the track!), then picking a fight with Clairee, who just wants to play with her ball.

This is just a very quick video of Shelby and Clairee playing – my favorite part is that you can see M’Lynn in the right-side heart-shaped mirror and Drum (and Ouiser) in the mirror on the door, watching Shelby and Clairee play.
Good night innernets. (From M’Lynn, Clairee, Shelby and Ouiser. Drum is on the other end of the couch, curled up sound asleep.)
