Of course tiny Shelby feels the need to climb up to the top of the new bed. I am pretty sure Drum showed her how to do it and she followed him up. (I watched her, with the intention of lifting her down after a few minutes, but instead she leapt from the top of that bed to the brass bed, just about giving me a heart attack in the process. “You’re too small to be doing that yet!” I told her, and she just smirked at me.)
Drum’s all “She’s FINE, lady. Stop worrying.”
Drum, Ouiser and (you can see her ear) Clairee in the top of the cat tree.
Shelby really likes this new bed.
Clairee’s polite look of interest kills me. “You were saying…?”
Learning about that track toy.
Clairee and Shelby have a tussle, while Drum snoopervises.
Shelby was in the basket and HERE CAME CLAIREE.
Clairee’s all “She’s fiercer than I expected!”

Alice says “I suppose if my beloved Daddy isn’t around, you may provide the scritching, lady.”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
M’Lynn catches sight of herself in the mirror and is all “Who IS that beautiful girl?!”
In 2018 we fostered a litter of kittens and their mother – Ryder and her Fleet – that included this adorable little dilute sweetheart, Dynamo. Dynamo was adopted into a wonderful home, and was renamed Piper.
In September of this year, after three months of many vet visits, tests, and needing to be fed through a feeding tube, vets concluded that due to the way the illness progressed, Piper likely had nasal cancer. Katelyn and Steven reached the extremely difficult decision to let her go. I wanted to share some of Katelyn’s pictures and what she wrote.
On September 11, she gained her wings at the much too young age of 5 years old. She went while lying on her favorite pillow, with mine and Steven’s arms wrapped around her. The last thing she heard was us telling her how much we love her and how proud we are of her. The last thing she did was use the little energy she had to give love and affection to the vet, a stranger she had never met. Because that’s just who Piper was. Endless kindness and selflessness, always thinking of others before herself.
She fought so so hard for the past 3 months while we took her back and forth to the vet, fed her through her tube, and put her through testing to try to find out what was wrong. She never complained and never got mad at us. I am in awe of her bravery and will. Her absence is enormous. She took a large part of us with her. Even though her life was way too short, the amount of joy and love she gave us was several lifetimes’ worth. She loved everything and everyone, especially food, her daddy, and her little brother Freddie Purrcury [former L&H foster Onion Ring], who he learned so much from and who she trained in her image. He is kind, gentle, and pure just as she was. I have never met a more selfless and giving creature than Piper was, and I am blessed that we had her in our lives at all. I told her all her life that she was an angel. Now she really is.”

(Thank you so very much, Katelyn. ❤️)

The kittens playing – Shelby does a sneak – and I accidentally refer to Ouiser as “he” instead of “she” (but Ouiser doesn’t care.)
Our friend Angie sent us this Squishmallows frog bed because the googly eyes remind them of Shelby (LOL) and I’d like to be offended, but I can’t because it just makes me laugh and laugh.

I’m tossing toys for kittens, we have a M’Lynn pie sighting (my favorite!) and Shelby and her mama have a moment.
Our friends Jenn and Nicole sent us this cool bed (on the left) – it’s like a grown-up Fruitasan! I was somehow surprised that the first thing that happened was that Drum climbed up to the top like it’s a cat tree, because that’s what kittens do. (I’ve seen all the kittens occasionally snooze inside it, but I’m waiting impatiently for them to all pile up in it together!)
Good night innernets. (M’Lynn and Clairee)
