This comparison picture of Shelby from November 5th (left) and November 19th (right) makes me realize just how awful the lighting in my office is and that it might be time to replace that ceiling light. (Also, please note that between the 5th and the 19th, Shelby gained the ability to retract her claws!)
M’Lynn knows that if she stares at me long enough, I’ll probably offer her a treat or some canned food.
“What doin’ up there, lady?” wonders Ouiser.
Clairee has a serious little face.
Drum is just turning into a snugglebug.
“I’m a PIE!” announces Ouiser. (My favorite!)
Shelby and Drum have a snuggle.
Breakfast is served, and Shelby is pretty sure that whatever Drum is eating is what she wants (even though all the food on the plate is the same!)

Charlie, who has never been all that interested in canned food, has suddenly started showing a lot of interest in Newt’s Second Breakfast. I think we all know that within a matter of months ALL the cats will be expecting Second Breakfast, and I blame Newt. (Also, this picture doesn’t do the size disparity justice – Charlie is a hulking behemoth of a cat who weighs twice as much as Newt.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Just a note on how everyone in the foster room is doing: they’re doing great! (Left to right: Ouiser, Drum, Shelby and Clairee. M’Lynn wanted nothing to do with this picture-taking nonsense.)
Shelby is now 601 g/ 1 lb, 5.2 oz (she was 142 g/ 5 oz when we got her and M’Lynn). She’s about the size of a 6 week old (she’ll be 8 weeks on Wednesday). She gave up the bottle a little more than a week ago and is doing well at eating canned food and kibble, though I do give her small supplementary bowls of canned food throughout the day. She is no longer skin and bones, is developing a belly, and is starting to climb and play… and act like a real kitten!
Ouiser, Drum and Clairee all weigh around 2 1/4 pounds (1020.5 g) and have each put on about a pound (453.5 g) since we got them 3 weeks ago. They’re an appropriate size for their ages (they’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow). They’re turning into lapkittens (especially Drum) and play like crazy things. They’re playing with Shelby and getting love from M’Lynn, which is nice to see.
M’Lynn has gone from 6 1/2 pounds (2.95 kg) to 8 pounds (3.63 kg) and is no longer skin and bones. She’s at a good weight, her fur is super soft, and she’s eating well and even occasionally playing.
I haven’t introduced them to Churu yet, but I think this is the week they learn about its existence, and I expect they’ll be big, BIG fans.
Former foster update! You remember former Crate Catsbys fosters Zelda and Myrtle, I presume? well, Zelda is now Ruby, and Myrtle is now Opal, and here’s what they look like now!
Maureen says: “Ruby & Opal are doing great and getting along fine with our old dog, Boo. Opal actually exchanges kisses with him on a regular basis. Ruby has become much more affectionate and snuggles quite often, but when she decides she’s in a snuggly mood…she is the queen of her castle. Opal is a lover of everything…food, catching flies, purring and snuzzling until the blanket she is pawing on is soaked from her “nursing” on it. They are very different and that makes it so much fun having them a part of the family!”
(Thank you Maureen!)

The kittens are playing, Shelby’s batting at passers-by from her basket, and skitterbugs abound (especially at the end.)

I love seeing Shelby hanging out in that basket smacking at the older kittens as they go by (I didn’t think Clairee was going to be allowed to leave with her leg intact for a minute there!)
Good night innernets. (Shelby)
