Drum’s in a post-breakfast coma.
It’s a Clairee mouse pie! (My favorite!)
The kittens kept hanging out under the little brass bed (not hiding – as soon as I go into the room, they come out. They just like hanging out under there) and finally M’Lynn decided to see what the fuss was about.
At 6 weeks old, Shelby might be the weight of a 4 week old (she’s flirting with the 1-pound mark!) but her eyes are changing color – you can see the green moving outward from her pupil. It’s always so cool to see them change.
Ouiser’s eyes are also changing color – I love the dark bronze around her pupil.
Drum’s got that same bronze around his pupil. I wouldn’t be surprised if the older three end up with orangey eyes.
Drum is all “This is a good box.”
Ouiser discovered that there’s a heated bed in this crate, and she HIGHLY approves.
We’re gonna need a bigger pie plate.
M’Lynn is off for her spay today. I expect her to come through it just fine, and that we’ll be back here by mid-afternoon. The coin toss is whether the kittens will react to her like “Oh look, it’s Mama. ::shrug::” or if they’ll notice that she smells different and put on their floof suits. (I prefer the calm reaction, but I can’t deny I would be very amused by a floof suit or two.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
While waiting for their canned food, they bellied up to the kibble. (M’Lynn, top, and (from left) Shelby, Clairee, Ouiser & Drum)
We have an update on Jethro and Elly May (formerly known as Spock and Janeway)! Tammy says: “These little whippersnappers are making themselves right at home. Elly May is extremely outgoing. She is of the mindset, let’s jump in the deep end and then we’ll figure out how to proceed. Jethro is a little more cautious and will take his cues from Elly but he can be headstrong. When it comes to eating he definitely takes after his namesake. You would think every meal is his last! The living room has become their personal playground, as you will see in the photos. I have several pillows on the sofa and I moved them to the back to give the kids more room to lay down and snuggle however, their favorite game is to play hide-n-seek behind the pillows and by mid-afternoon the pillows are either on the sofa or the floor! At night they have started coming to the bedroom to sleep at the foot of the bed. They are such a joy and pure entertainment.”
Thank you, Tammy! ❤️

M’Lynn in heat (this is from a couple of days ago – she’s no longer in heat. Thankfully, I find that a mama cat’s first heat cycle after having kittens tends to be pretty short), writhing around, loving everyone. And Drum, Ouiser and Clairee racing around like wild things. (M’Lynn is going for her spay surgery on Wednesday!)
PS: Shelby was sitting in my lap, thus is not in this video.
An update on former foster Kirk (it is, after all, #Toesday. Check out those little pink beans!) Rebekah reports that Captain Kirk is a total maniac, and he and Mango have SO much fun. Check out the picture of him with Mango AND Oreo on the screened in porch. What an adorable trio! (Rebekah also reports that Kirk is the best kitten ever. We knew that! 😉 )
Thanks Rebekah! ❤️

This is the most ridiculous(ly cute) thing you’ll see today. You should probably sit down. I don’t want the cute to knock you off your feet.
Shelby in mid-hop. How CUUUTE is she?!
Good night innernets. (Ouiser)
