Jump to comments Jump to sidebar
New changes to the site: the links are blue now, to see them more easily. And there’s a “jump to sidebar” link at the top and bottom of each entry, on the same line as the “jump to comments” links. If you generally read this site on a desktop or large tablet where the sidebar shows up to the side of the post, then you don’t really need that link. If you’re on a mobile device where the sidebar gets shuffled to the bottom of the page, clicking on that link will take you straight to the sidebar so there’ll be no annoying scrolling. I’m still poking around in the design, but I am not really good at this sort of stuff, so except for a tweak here or there, this is likely the way it’ll stay (and I’ll hopefully get the sidebar finished and more banners added this weekend.)

Line ’em up! From left: Janeway, Troi, Kes and Spock.
Kes checks out the black cat toy (from CatLadyBox, no longer available – or at least I can’t find it on their site.)
Kes under the bed, thinking Mama doesn’t know she’s there. Oh, Mama KNOWS.
Kirk discovered the hammock and finds it comfy.
As mentioned, the kittens prefer Uhura’s litter boxes to their own. The fact that I had little “steps” leading to the lower litter boxes and they’re climbing into the big ones with no problem at all cracks me up.
I got out the Croc bed for the kittens, and they thought it was cool.
Spock gave it the once-over and then wandered away while Troi got more serious about her inspecting.
I swear to you, I thought to myself “Wow, I’ve had that thing for 10 or 11 years through tons of kittens, and none have ever stuck their head through those holes at the bottom. They seem like they’d be big enough for a kitten head to fit through, but I guess not.”
LITERALLY 30 SECONDS LATER, TROI:
Yes, she was stuck. And what’s even better is that I was making a video when she did it, and the video ended VERY ABRUPTLY so I could see if she was stuck (YEP). I tried to get her head BACK through the hole with no luck, so yelled down to Fred that we had an emergency. He tried to get her head back through with no luck, and I ended up cutting her out of it.
SERIOUSLY, just when you think your foster room is kitten-proof, here comes a kitten to prove you WRONG. Bye-bye Croc bed. It was nice while it lasted!
(The video will be posting on social media today at some point, so will be here in the blog tomorrow.)

Alice is all “Trying to watch the hummingbirds, lady. You go ‘way.”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Like mother, like son. Uhura and Spock check out the mirrors.
It’s a Kirk-and-Mr.-Rattie pie! My favorite!

The kittens hang out under that bed sometimes, and Uhura doesn’t like it. She wants to be able to see them! I love her lecturing them (in the sweetest possible voice) “You kids come out from under there! Mama wants to keep an eye on you!”
Janeway takes a post-lunch bath.

Three minutes of the kittens playing. If you ever wondered, right around the 6 week age mark is when they turn into complete lunatics.
FINALLY Spock gave the canned food a try (he seemed to like it!)
Good night innernets. (From left: Kirk, Janeway, Spock, Kes & Troi.)
