Sights from around Crooked Acre: Miscellaneous
I don’t know what kind of trees these are, but they were my favorite thing about the fall of 2021. When the sun was going down and hit these trees, it was gorgeous.
Here’s a panoramic view (taken from my bedroom window) of the back yard in March 2022, before we had the fence replaced.
Same view, 6 months later. The fence – a black chain-link – has been a big hit with the cats, especially Charlie.
We had new field lines (for the septic system) put in last April.
Tiny chipmunk, checking things out. (I haven’t seen him since.)
This judgy frog dude lives in our back yard.
Squirrel’s checking out the view into the front room from the porch.
I was cutting back the Nandina (so I can see into the back yard from the kitchen sink), and this sproingy little green frog came to see what I was doing.
This little bunny was just hanging out in the back yard one morning, so we picked it up and put it outside the fence and I hope he hopped off to a happy little life.
A couple of videos.

Things that showed up on our game camera. Armadillos, skunk, possum and a fox! The fox is the reason we no longer leave cat food out for random passing cats – because it was everything BUT cats showing up to eat the cat food (there were a couple of neighborhood dogs who kept showing up, too.)

One of our outdoor Nest cameras caught this interaction one afternoon. A random passing tuxie (outside the fence) caught Charlie’s attention (inside the fence), and while Charlie was trying to decide whether to attempt to kick butt (good luck with that, Charlie), an unexpected player (a possum) came running through.

I was sitting on the floor and Wren was on the back of the couch trying to figure out what I was doing.
Tater and Starling on the cardboard couch to the left, Rufous strolling toward me, and at the end of the hallway Wren was starting to floof for some reason.
Wren in the scratcher bowl, catching her breath.
And at the bottom of the stairs, checking to see what I’m doing.

Dewey (from 2018) is all “Pardon me, have you admired my foot?”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Snuggling with Starling is the perfect way to start the day.
Oh dear, oh dear – the dishwasher is infested with kittens again!
