If you missed it over the weekend, or over on the sidebar, Nick and Jay were adopted and went home on Saturday! I delivered them myself, and while they looked a little unsure at first, by the time I left they were looking around with interest. They join a family that includes three kitty siblings to play with.
This means that Daisy and all of her kittens are now adopted, and we can relax a little. The Nestlings are scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries on August 2nd (this month’s spay/neuter date was too early for Starling, Tater and Rufous, and I’d like to see Wren gain a little more weight before her spay, so August 2nd it is.)
Side note: Forgotten Felines of Huntsville prefers to spay/neuter at 3 months/3 pounds. Some rescues do it at 2 pounds, and some do it later, but this is what FF does and I think it works well. Kittens can’t have their rabies vaccination ’til 3 months anyway, so why not do it all at once? I’m always a little baffled when people are baffled at how “old” the kittens are before they’re available for adoption because they (or their friend, or their cousin’s mother’s uncle) were able to adopt kittens at 4/6/8 weeks old. Rescues aren’t bound by what other rescues (or your cousin’s mother’s uncle) do, and like I mentioned – this is what Forgotten Felines does (I didn’t make the rule, but I do support it!) Does it mean that people opt to adopt the younger kittens from rescues/animal control facilities instead? I’m sure it does, but that’s okay. Those kittens need homes too!

Rufous matches that blanket (or that blanket matches Rufous!)
Wren’s the star of Whiskers Gone Wild.
Listen. Bless her heart, but I just don’t think Tater’s the sharpest tool in the shed. She is ADORABLE and she is super sweet and purrs if you so much as glance at her, so I think she’ll be fine. She just won’t be helping you with your math homework.
Starling’s melting in the sun.
Tater STOLE Rufous’s very most favorite toy, the red spring, and Wren was all “That is NOT your toy, TATER,” and Tater gave Wren the Paws of Nope.
(Rufous WILL play non-red springs, but red is his favorite)
“It’s okay… she can play with it. I’m fine.” OH, this sweet boy.
Starling’s all “LADY, tryin’ to SLEEP, here.”

Trixie’s making the arduous journey from the side yard to the front porch.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Tater’s all “LADY, Mister Frog is hoggin’ the chair, and I DON’T LIKE IT.”
Starling found this little “bearskin rug” (it came from CatLadyBox a million years ago) and immediately snuggled up on it. The girl likes her comfort.
It’s a Rufous pie (my favorite!) And would you look at those paws? They’re all of a sudden super huge!

This pie has a lot to say. (I could just squoosh that girl, she is so ADORABLE.)
Hooray, hooray, Nick and Jay were adopted (together) and went home today! They join a wonderful family that includes three kitty siblings. They will not be keeping their names (there’s a human named Nick in the family), but they’re going to wait and see what names fit. Happy life, sweet boys! ❤️
Good night innernets. (Rufous on the couch, Starling peeking up from the Toastycat bed.)
Tater “discovered” that toy and it’s her favorite – she’s always trotting around with it in her mouth, and it’s unbearably adorable. (It’s a Whisker City® Spring Toys from Petsmart.)
Wren in the sun showing off her pretty markings (and pretty eyes!)

Jay and Nick were adopted (together) and went home yesterday (hooray!) Here’s the video of some of my favorite pictures of them from the day they were born (March 18th) to the day they went home (July 1st). (This means that all of the Catsbys have now been adopted, including Daisy, who went home on Monday!)
Starling always looks so darn serious, but she is the SWEETEST thing. As soon as I took this picture, I picked her up and kissed her 1,000 times (conservative estimated) and she purred and purred.

Wren and Tater have some fightin’ (I always ask the other kittens why they pick on Tater, but as you’ll see, Tater was the instigator here. I think she very often is, and as soon as they pin her down, she starts crying like they’re picking on her. I’m such a sucker for a sad story.) In the background, Rufous is playing with his very most favorite toy, the red spring. He loves that toy more than anything in the world – Wren took it away from him the other day and he looked at her sadly – 😿- and she gave it back to him. (She’s a sucker for a sad story too, I guess.) The only kitten not in the video is Starling, who was sitting in my lap snoozing.
This Rufous pie (my favorite!) has such pretty eyes.
Good night innernets. (A sleepy Tater pie)(my favorite!)
