I got a ton of great suggestions on what to call the entire litter – so many that I couldn’t decide which to use! So I wrote them down, read them to Fred, and he chose (drumroll please)…
LOS GATOS HERMANOS.
Thank you to everyone who made suggestions – at least three people suggested Los Gatos Hermanos, so if you were one of those, please feel free to take your victory lap.
The family. That’s a yawn from Lalo there in the middle.
She always looks so ticked off, but she’s constantly purring and kneading and asking for petting.
Kittens make excellent pillows.
I see eyeballs peeking through. They’re a week old today, they should start plinking at any moment.

Did you know we have new fosters? The foster room does not like to be empty! Say hello to seal point mama Kim Wexler, all-black girl Francesca, all-black boy Gustavo, tuxie Ignacio, meezer Lalo, and tuxie Saul. The kittens are 6 days old (born 7/27) and the family came from the local animal control. Mama is a little timid, but very friendly. The kittens are little lumps of cute who sleep all the time. We look forward to watching them grow!
Weighing Saul. The kittens range from 7 oz (198.4 g) to 7.4 oz (209.7 g). Saul’s the heaviest, Lalo’s the lightest, and the other three – Ignacio, Francesca & Gustavo – weigh exactly the same (7.2 oz/ 204.1 g). No runts in this litter!

Settling in, getting to know the sounds of the house. (The first bit is from about an hour after I got home with them. Fred thought we should just leave ’em alone for a couple of hours, but I wanted to get to know mama!)
They sure sleep a lot at this age. How do I always forget that?

Mama Kim Wexler doesn’t look too worried about those hissing kittens. (The hissers in question are tuxie Saul and black girl Francesca.)
(Yes, they’re hissing. It’s totally normal, it’s because they smell something unfamiliar (that would be me) and they generally stop shortly after their eyes open.)
