Looks like Kudzu and Bramble were having an important meeting, and I interrupted.
Bramble’s all “I wasn’t biting Mama’s foot. I’d never!”
Mondo followed Mimosa across the room, then she jumped up to the top of the cat tree, and he turned around and came back. And I’m sorry, but wasn’t it just like a week ago that he was still struggling with the concept of “existing”? How is he already stomping back and forth across the entire room?
Guilty little faces. I don’t know what they were doing, but apparently I caught them at it. Top to bottom: Mondo, Bramble, Clover.
And Bramble, Kudzu and Mondo (and a tiny bit of Hollyhock’s ears, behind Bramble) in the crate.
Hollyhock fell asleep with her eyes AND her mouth open, so I got this close-up shot of her eyes. They’re already more green and gold than blue!
Mondo, always fashion-forward, walked around with a single piece of litter on his nose for about 10 minutes before it dropped off.
Clover has a sleepy in the sun.
It was an action-packed weekend – not only do all the kittens now use the litter box (I spotted a couple of accidents, but that’s to be expected, and thank god for washable pee pads, which are in every corner of the foster room right now), but I spotted Bramble eating solid food off of Mimosa’s plate. All the kittens are very interested in sniffing around her plate and the bowls of kibble, so it isn’t going to be long before they’re all eating. Most of the kittens have climbed up the side of the couch (I mean, why go to the other side of the room where there are cat trees for climbing?) and have figured out how to get back down again.
It is absolutely insane how fast they grow at this age!

I recently rearranged the porch and moved this set of steps/platform to the end of the porch that gets the most sun, and Alice immediately claimed it as her own.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
From Wikipedia: “Rabbit rabbit rabbit” is a superstition found in Britain and North America wherein a person says or repeats the words “rabbit”, “rabbits” and/or “white rabbits” aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it.
When the milk bar gets up and walks away, you have some very surprised (and grumpy) patrons. Left to right: Mondo, Clover, Hollyhock, Bramble (back) and Kudzu.
Mondo got caught exploring; looks guilty, doesn’t he?

Is Kudzu Da BAYbee? We suspect yes, but he will neither confirm nor deny.

Mimosa is one sweet, sweet girl. ❤️
Good night innernets. (Clover – and yes, he was sound asleep when I took this picture.)
Hollyhock looks appalled to hear that it’s morning and time to wake up! (Mondo is missing from this cuddle puddle – he was snoozing in the crate. The other 4 – Hollyhock (front), Kudzu (back), Bramble (middle) and Clover (right) were in this pile when I walked into the room.)
Hollyhock is all “Mama! I want HUGS!”

Bramble had to come see what that noise was! He is such a little cutie.
Bramble’s all “YES, I am hanging out in the scratcher. You gots a problem with that?”

Hanging out in the kitten room watching the kittens (and Mimosa) do their thing. They are so CUTE at this age! (They’re 4 1/2 weeks old.)
Clover and Kudzu have a tussle.
Good night innernets. (Mimosa’s face is cracking me up – she’d been licking kittens, and forgot to slurp her tongue back into her mouth, apparently.)
In case you hadn’t noticed, the kittens loooove that scratcher! Top: Bramble & Kudzu. Bottom: Clover & Hollyhock. (No picture of Mondo in the scratcher today – he moves through it too fast for me to get a decent pic!)
No one uses the litter box alone! Litter training kittens is super easy, in my experience. Set up the litter boxes, filled with non-clumping litter, make sure I set each kitten in the litter box a few times (and make sure they can get out easily enough), and eventually they just… use it.
They don’t need to see their mother use the litter box (Mimosa’s litter box is in the closet, they don’t really go in there), it’s all instinct.
Mondo used the litter box for the first time Wednesday, and every single kitten has begun using it as well. There have been a few accidents – I put washable pee pads everywhere for just that reason – but for the most part, they’ve done a great job. They’re only peeing so far – I did see one poop yesterday, but don’t know who left it – but it won’t be long before they’re using the boxes all the time, I’m sure.

A BOOP! for you and you and you!
Did you think Mondo would be the first one to try some solid cat food? Me too! We were all wrong, though – Bramble won that category!
When I have a mother cat present, I don’t worry too much about when the kittens start eating solid food. I provide canned and dry food for the mother, and eventually the kittens get curious about what Mama is doing, give her food a sniff, and then give it a try. I find that they start showing interest when they’re between 4 – 5 weeks old, so these guys are right on target.
Most of the kittens have sniffed Mimosa’s food (and tried some water), but Bramble’s the only one I’ve seen actually eating some of it. The rest won’t be far behind, though, I’m sure.

Would you LOOK at Bramble, climbing up on the couch, and SO proud of himself? We’ve got a room full of hooligans, is what we’ve got.
The kittens love to go in and out of the cabinet where they were born, and I swear they’re thinking “It’s so much smaller than I remember!” Left to right: Kudzu, Mondo and Hollyhock.
