Mimosa seems to be coming out of heat, thank goodness. One more week ’til her spay!

I’m sorry, but this picture just cracks me UP. (Mimosa wasn’t lying like that – she was in the process of rolling from one side to the other when I happened to get this picture.)
Mimosa – WHO IS SCHEDULED FOR HER SPAY SURGERY ON APRIL 25TH – is in heat. What does this mean? It means that she spends her time purring, rubbing up against everything, and yowling at the door at the very top of her lungs, hoping to lure an intact male cat to come impregnate her. (Good luck with that, Mimosa.) When she yowls, she yowls LOUDLY, and I thank my lucky stars that I have earplugs and a white noise machine to sleep with.
Usually, the first heat cycle after having kittens tends to be fairly short and somewhat mild. Hopefully this will end soon (it started Wednesday night), and won’t reoccur before her spay surgery.
The kittens aren’t bothered at all by her behavior. They mostly think she’s acting weird, and are ignoring her.
Mondo has caught himself a tasty, tasty rat.

Hollyhock has many skills (climbing into the Fruittasan from the top, climbing from one cat tree to another and back again, skitterbugging at her brothers) and she likes to show them off.

They certainly do have fun in (and on!) that Fruittasan.
(The Fruittasan hanging basket came from Pier1 several years ago – it’s a fruit basket, but clearly works great as a kitten swing. Pier1 no longer carries them, but TJ Maxx and Home Goods sometimes carry similar pet beds.)
