Mimosa is a great kneader and purrer, and such a sweet, chill girl! I find the sound of her purring so relaxing. I wonder if a recording of cat purring would help insomniacs get to sleep?
Someone told me that they fall asleep to my the 8 minutes of kittens napping video!

I was just looking at Canasta pix from when she was around Mimosa’s current size, and suddenly realized I hadn’t seen Mimosa in a Ham-mick (which Canasta loved and “stole” from Charlie). I wondered whether Mimosa tried and rejected it or it’s just a coincidence it hasn’t been in the foster room.
I had a Ham-mick in the room until last week, and she was 100% uninterested. Her napping spots are either on one of the rugs, or up on top of the cat tree. She doesn’t like soft, plush beds, she doesn’t care for the couch (she’ll come up onto the couch for petting for very short periods of time), won’t sit in the pie plate bed, ignores the basket with the soft bed in it, and she doesn’t care for enclosed boxes. She is very certain about what she does and doesn’t like. (Also has zero use for any of the track toys!)

I didn’t see Siamese in the listing. Would that be considered “Oriental”?
I actually had to go look at the report. Apparently the “alternate name” for Thai is “Traditional Siamese” and under the “breed history” description it says:
Originating from Thailand (formerly known as Siam), it is believed that the breed first made its way to Europe in 1884 when the British Consul-General Edward Blencowe Gould brought a breeding pair of cats from Bangkok as a gift for his sister, Lilian. Over the years to follow, fanciers imported more cats from Thailand, gradually forming the base breeding pool for the entire breed in the UK. As for the US, the first Siamese cat was reportedly given to Lucy Webb Hayes (First Lady and wife of Rutherford B. Hayes) in 1878 by US Consul, David Stickles.
(Not for nothin’, Edward Blencowe Gould and David Stickles would be excellent kitten names.)

Jake’s got Maine coon in him? And *ragdoll*? Really? Wow, I didn’t see either of those coming. Is he much of a talker? That’s a Maine coon thing.
Jake is definitely a talker – not all the time, but he’s usually got a “brrrp!” to share. And if he’s in the right mood and gets hold of a toy, he carries it through the house howling and howling.

“I told you it smells FINE, stop sticking your foot in my face!”
Brown tabby and white slept through my picking him/her up, taking a picture, and putting him back.
I’ve found that this is the best way to hold a kitten with one hand while taking a picture with the other – index and middle finger on either side of its head and other two fingers and thumb around its abdomen. It’s actually a fairly loose grip and makes it easy to turn them so you can get a shot of their face. It keeps working until they get too chunky around the middle and squirmy – around a month old, depending on the kitten.
This way works too, I suppose. At least until the kitten starts squirming around.
Calico and her little pink beans.
Gray tabby and white. Mimosa’s kittens (at least thus far) have handled being picked up and held really well. I’m sure that’ll change.
“Watchin’ you, lady.” I wonder if Mimosa needs a mirror in that cabinet.
Ah, the life of a new mama – sniffing behinds to see if kittens need to be pottied takes up about 50% of your time.
The kittens are doing great, Mimosa is doing great. I guess in pictures she still looks like her belly is big, because I’m getting dire warnings that there are kittens still in there (I had the same comments after Canasta had her kittens, too). I don’t feel any kittens in there, and to me she looks like a normal-sized cat. She has a little weight on her, but she absolutely needs it because as the kittens get bigger she’ll get skinnier.

Archie in the back yard over the summer. Yesterday and today, the cats haven’t been allowed outside because we’re getting our new back yard fence! The old one was in rough shape and desperately needed replacing. The new fence will be wood privacy fence on one side and black chain link on the other three sides. Charlie Kravitz will be able to see THROUGH the fence, which I think he will like very much. (Eventually we will have the other part of our property fenced in as well, but that’s not a priority and so it goes onto the “someday” list.)

Good morning from the foster room, where it appears we have a little complainer (clearly we’ve got a BAYbee in the making.) There are still 5 kittens (no overnight surprises) and all are doing well, including wonderful Mama Mimosa.
Cuddle pile. To answer the question: Mimosa doesn’t mind me handling her kittens at all as long as they don’t get all screamy. (If they scream, she runs over to check on them and then gives me A Look. All mother cats apparently take some sort of online course to help them perfect that “I am disappointed in you, human” look.)
I’ve always handled our newborn kittens and have never had a mama (even feral mamas Emmy and Katia) have a problem with it as long as I don’t get too close to the mamas themselves (I got smacked by Katia more than once when my hand got too close to her. That was in the olden days, before Kitten Lady’s patented Spatula Method™️ was widely known.)
In conclusion: all of Mimosa’s kittens have been handled, a few of them have been kissed, and Mimosa doesn’t care as long as she gets petting and the occasional kiss, too.
Mimosa and Dark Tabby have a snuggle.

Belly up to the milk bar, kittens! The kittens nursing peacefully. (They look so big now… imagine how big they’re going to look at 1 week when they’ve doubled their weight!) ❤️
Good night innernets. (Mimosa was across the room eating when I took this picture.)
