Wayyy back in early 2013, we got a gorgeous tortie girl who (we were told) was pregnant. You KNOW how I am about pregnant cats, so I snatched her up and brought her home.
I named her Lilybet, planning to give her kittens other royal names (Lilybet being the childhood nickname for Queen Elizabeth II).
It cracks me up that in my hopeful first post about her, I said that I wouldn’t have guessed that she was pregnant except for a little fullness around her belly.
(You can see all the pictures I took of her while she was with us over at Flickr.)
She was with us for about two weeks before what I’d suspected was proven true: that girl was not pregnant.
She was spayed and went off to Petsmart, and was adopted at the beginning of May – and Chloe sent an update on her!
Her name is now Artemis, and Chloe says:
I think this week marks 4 years of my having adopted Artemis. I know she was only with you a short while, but I wanted to send you a quick update with pictures!
My fiance and his dog Hogan moved in with us about a year ago. The relationship between Hogan and Artemis was a little tense at first, but they became fast friends. They enjoy keeping an eye on the neighborhood together, and sometimes napping near each other.
Artemis has found that dog beds are actually the perfect size for her, though she is also a big fan of cuddling with me, or anywhere else that she finds a cozy space.
All in all, we’re so happy that Artemis is in our lives and we certainly hope that she feels the same about us!
Thanks for all you do, and keep those kitten pictures coming! They’re such a great way to start the day!
Thank you so much for the update, Chloe – we love seeing that sweet girl! (And as I mentioned, interspecies friendships are one of my favorite things!)

Listen, when little kittens tilt their heads while trying to figure you out, it is the cutest thing on earth. (That’s Praline, by the way.)
“Peekaboo! Innernets, I see you!”
Roux on the scratcher. They look so SERIOUS at this age.
Roux was getting sleepy, so was a wee bit whiny. (Don’t you love how she was putting her black lipstick on in preparation for sneaking out to a rave, and missed a bit?)
Those tabby girls love to stuff themselves in that tiny little space and fall asleep. That’s Praline on the right, but I can’t tell Roux and Beignet apart from this picture, so your guess is as good as mine.
Another tabby girl pile. By the way, if you see a picture of those three girls and wonder where Andouille is, he’s usually either on the bottom of the pile or sitting in my lap. That boy loves a good snuggle.
Poor Nola. Not one minute to herself without someone staring at her, climbing on her, or attacking her tail.
Nola went off to eat, but Andouille was a man on a mission.
And yes, he did use her litter box.
But don’t be TOO impressed – they’ve been able to climb into her litter box (usually from the other end) for a week and a half now. Because geniuses, have I mentioned?

Video! Those crazy kittens acting like crazy kittens. I cannot believe they’re 5 weeks old!

Alice Mo suggests you keep your hands off her Daddy, yo.
