Sights from around Crooked Acres.
This is a turkey buzzard, who landed on that post way at the back of the back forty (I was standing in the back yard when I took this picture.) All the chickens were under the coop (that’s where they hang out during the day), and George and Gracie were dead to the world and didn’t stir.
Mr. Buzzard sat there for a few minutes, but of course…
As soon as I tried to get closer to get a better picture, off he went.
“Hey look, guys, I can fly. I CAN FLY!”
“You’re not flying, you’re just walking along with your wings out.”
“Look at me, SOARING. You guys just wish you could fly, too.”
“Durrrr, look at me, guys, I’m flyyyyyying! ::snicker::”
“Like I said, you’re jealous.”
The Angry Muppet is angry. And fluffy.
When we have pasta, I invariably make too much for just the two of us, and the chickens get the leftovers. They LOVE angel hair.
They snatch up as much as they can and gobble it down.
George is like “How come they’re so excited? It’s not like it’s MEAT.”
Ducks have no great love for pasta, so they just wait patiently for us to refill the water bowls with clean water, so they can stomp around in it before they go quacking off to the pond.
This hen was limping pretty badly, so she’s confined to the brooder in the blue coop for a few days. Food, water, and no roosters to run from – she may never want to go back to the back forty!
…stop in mid-shake when you see someone who might have a snack for you…
And begin running. “I’m coming! Here I come! Don’t give that snack to anyone else, here I come!”

Leia’s once again annoyed by me and my camera.
I love the look on Kate’s face. “Yeah, I know. She’s my baby. What’m I gonna do, tell her she can’t nurse?” ::shrug::
I love this picture so very much.
Please note that we have, oh… (counting)… five(ish) bookcases in this house, and the bottom shelves are empty on each and every one of them. What if the cats want to hang out on the bottom shelves and there are BOOKS there or something? We can’t have that!
“Wow. That is one GOOD LOOKIN’ boy.”
Kate, pretending she doesn’t notice that Charming wants to nurse.

Khaleesi and the babies (before I gave up and put a bed in that corner). The wooden barrier on the left side of the picture is in front of the door (which leads to the hallway). The one behind Khaleesi leads into the closet. There’s a litter box in there that Khaleesi uses, but it’s got clumping litter in it, so I don’t want the kittens to go in there (Khaleesi can easily jump over the barrier). Once they’re old enough to use clumping litter, I’ll take that barrier down and put all their litter boxes in there.
All babies present and accounted for.
We’ve been talking about how big Puff is, but I should point out here that Scorch is the bigger kitten. I think that his eyes are bigger, so maybe his head doesn’t look quite as large as Puff’s.
When I walk into the room and the kittens are sleeping, Norbert’s the first (and sometimes only) kitten who immediately gets up and comes over to me.
He’s amazed by pretty much everything at this point.
“Wait, wait, wait… are you saying that I’m the King?” The King of CUTE, anyway.
