From the very start, Buttercup reminded me of a certain animal:
1. A rare animal from far away, but it has made its rounds on the late night talk shows…
2.It smells like…POPCORN!
Anybody? A BEARCAT! Buttercup looks like a bearcat!
I think its Buttercup’s whiskers that truly cement the look-a-like factor .
I had honestly never heard of a Bearcat before, actually, but I can certainly see the resemblance! Sadly, Buttercup does not smell like popcorn. That, or she just hasn’t grown into it yet.

Will those 20 Cuckoo Marans be eventually heading off to freezer camp too?
It depends on whether they’re roosters or hens. The hens will likely be staying around – we need the new blood added to the flock – and maybe one rooster will too, depending on temperament.

Another spittin’ kitten…
Good LORD, what a cutie! (The spitting takes place about 50 seconds in).

Last week, Joasia posted a comment asking for advice for her cat Chester, who was just diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure. Lots of you awesome people stepped in and offered advice, and if anyone’s interested in seeing that, you can go here to see it. (Also, an update from Joasia regarding how Chester’s doing is here!)
And then a few days ago, Ibby posted a comment asking for advice regarding Feline Diabetes. Lots of people had great advice. Here’s the direct link to that spot in the comments for anyone else who’s interested.
Thank you SO MUCH for stepping in to offer advice and words of wisdom, you guys. You’re the best!

Robyn, I think Leia is going to be the first one over board. She looks like she is ready to explore.
She was, indeed, the first one out of the bed. I walked into the room to find Leia laying in the middle of the floor. I suspect that she’d probably been snuggled up to Kate (who meets me at the door, since I almost always have a plate of food for her), but she was just laying there looking around, all bright-eyed. I put her back in the bed, which she protested. It’s been a couple of days and she hasn’t been back out… as far as I know, anyway!

These babies are fab and awesome, but how do they SMELL?!
I have a kitten huffing problem. 😉
They smell exactly like raw peanuts (which is not at all like the smell of peanut butter). All kittens smell like raw peanuts to me! And yes, I spend a lot of time kissing and sniffing them. Luckily, Kate doesn’t seem to mind!

Can I take a turn asking for advice? my Mana cat is 2 years old and is the most beautiful dilute tortoiseshell in the world. but she has a butt problem! in the past 6 months or so she’s been on antibiotics three times for infected anal glands and she has been sedated and had her glands flushed. just recently I started adding psyllium husk to her food, the idea being that bigger poops will help her empty her glands better. she’s still scooting! has anyone else had a cat with anal gland problems? my vet has never seen a cat with this. they’ve told me that surgically removing the glands is an option. has anyone had this done for their furchild? did you go to a specialist feline vet or did your regular vet do it? did your cat have any problems with the litter box afterwards, such as spraying or pooping outside the box? I’ll keep on with the psyllium and expressing her glands as I don’t want to rush in to surgery.
thanks in advance!
I do not have any advice on this topic, but hopefully someone out there will. If you have any suggestions or wisdom for Heather, please leave it in the comments.

Thought you might appreciate this article on the different kinds of tabbies. Also in regards to black cats, I have a tuxie and a black cat. The tuxie is very shiny black. Shadow, on the other hand, is a matte black and in the sunlight shows reddish highlights. I call the color burnt hamburger. You get a similar thing with horses. There they are distinguished by being called fading black or nonfading black.
I had bookmarked that exact same article! I thought it was pretty interesting. I always call Classic Tabbies “cinnamon roll tabbies.” 🙂

Shout out to old man Spanky, hope he’s doing ok! Ordered the Liqui-Tinic for my old kitty. Is it just me, or does it smell like licorice/anise gone bad? Ugh.
I had to go sniff the bottle because Fred’s in charge of medicating Spanky and I hadn’t even been near the stuff. It does smell like licorice!
Spanky is doing really, really well. We’re now six weeks past the day we started him on Liqui-Tinic, and he’s still bright-eyed and alert and looking great. He’s eating pretty well, though I’d like to see him eating more. He’s also started “singing” again, which he hadn’t done in a while. Now he’s doing it on the regular, and it’s nice to hear (even when he does it at 3 am right in my ear!)

For you Labyrinth fans out there (and even you non-Labyrinth fans!), Lisa made this picture, which cracked me up:

“I am sad because I have an eye booger and no one will wipe it off for me.” Doesn’t he look JUST like a wee baby bear? Oh, I just want to squeeze him.
Kate and Aslan, having a little one-on-one time in the middle of the room (all his siblings were sleeping, and he was wandering around squeaking, so I put him on the floor next to Kate, and he took care of the rest.)
Leia likes to stare at the side of the bed.
Buttercup, asleep with her tongue sticking out.
Sleepy babies (except for Jareth, who’s keeping an eye on me.)
Video! They’re not doing a whole lot except sleeping, looking, and yawning, but they’re awfully cute monkeys.

Corbs the beautiful, and his wonderful whiskers.
