Mimosa’s all “Watchin’ you, lady.”
“Lady, I heard you say I’m potato-shaped, and I’m trying to decide if I’m offended.”
“Or if I’d rather just take a nap.”
“You come rub my belly while I decide.”
She was checking out her look in the mirror when Fred sent the Da Bird teaser flying by, and I love that she’s using the mirror to look at it.
Mimosa’s still here, still pregnant, getting bigger, and still a cutie cute cute.

A picture of Dewey from a few years ago so y’all don’t forget how prettyyyy he is. (For the newer readers: permanent resident Dewey has decided that he does not want to have his picture taken, and I have decided to respect his privacy. (Please know that I roll my eyes really hard every time I tell Dewey that I’m respecting his privacy.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
The belly. The first picture is from Sunday; the second is from last night. The belly is definitely growing. She has gained over a pound in the past week (going from 10 pounds, 10 ounces last Thursday to 11 pounds, 12 ounces last night.)
When the vet did her ultrasound one week ago (a week ago yesterday, to be exact), she said that she couldn’t tell how many kittens there were because the kittens’ bones hadn’t mineralized yet, but that they were definitely over 30 days’ gestation. According to Google, kittens mineralize at 40-45 days. So let’s say that last Thursday they were 31 days along. That makes today day 39. A cat’s gestation period is, on average, 60-65 days. If we say Mimosa’s gestation period is 63 days and we’re on day 39, then that would mean we have another 24 days.
On the other hand, if Mimosa was more like 40 days last Thursday, that makes today day 48. Which means we have another 15 days.
Ergo, we will have kittens at some point between February 19 – 28th. Or later. Or sooner. Who knows? (I like the idea of kittens on Tuesday 2-22-22.)
I can confidently predict we’ll have kittens before Christmas 2022, though. Of that I’m 100% sure.

Mimosa’s one hungry girl. Her sweet little voice just kills me dead. (And of COURSE I fed her after I stopped making a video of her adorable self.)
Mimosa is such a cute little flirt.
Good night innernets. (Mimosa)
Well this is a familiar pose! (Mimosa, mid-bath, stopped to make sure that her plate hadn’t somehow refilled itself when she wasn’t looking.)

“This box could use some catnip, lady.” Mimosa’s not fond of this “no catnip while pregnant” rule.
“Excuse you, lady, my eyes are up HERE.” Sorry, Mimosa, my eyes are just DRAWN to that belly.

I just noticed that your compatibility chart doesn’t include Charlie. Inquiring minds want to know!
I’ll add it to my list! 🙂
Why no catnip for pregnant mamas?
It can cause contractions, leading to premature labor (I suspect a little won’t hurt, but figure it’s better to be safe than sorry. Mimosa’s already put in her order for a ‘niptini after the kittens are born. 🙂 )
I saw a post where you discussed cat litter. I can’t find it. I’m looking for something that’s dust free. A lot of the brands claim to be 99% dust free, but it’s not true.
Need help.
I’ll post your question in Friday’s entry so that others can chime in, but I can tell you that I use Tidy Cat litter, but it’s certainly not dust-free. For true dust-free litter, I think you’d have to use the crystal type litter (but hopefully others will chime in with suggestions.)
Thanks! Standing by.
Just as a spoiler for Friday’s litter question, I am sold on (and even somewhat hoarding) Arm & Hammer “Cloud Control” litter. It made a huge difference.
Your timeline and birth day guess reminded me of the weather peeps predicting a snowstorm. Giggling.
