Sunday night at bed time, Crumpet was all “Kittens? Never heard of ’em.”
I checked on her the last time at about midnight, before I went to bed, and she was just hanging out on the cat tree, looking out the window.
When I got up to go to the bathroom a bit before 5, I looked in on her again and…
I have two Nest cameras in the room (though none pointed into the pink cube because I thought that SURELY she’d have her kittens in the red crate!) and I could see that she went into the cube about 15 minutes after I checked on her and had her first kitten shortly thereafter. By the time I saw them at 5, the kittens were all clean and dry, so I think she probably had them all pretty close together.
I truly did not think we’d be seeing kittens until the end of this week, so I guess once again it’s obvious that I have noooo idea. For the record, she was with us for 11 days before she had her kittens.
I am hoping to get individual pictures as well as weights and sexes on the kittens today. And hopefully I’ll also get them named as well!

Did I mention that the Ducklings really like the top of this cat tree?
Louie really likes the couch, too.
When they’re not busy playing, that is.
Huey’s floof in the sun is just ::chef’s kiss::

Alice Mo the calico says “More kittens in this house? UGH.” (Yo.)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
“Gooood morn – oh!” They rarely take me this much by surprise, but at some point between midnight (last time I checked on her) and 5 am (when I checked on her on the way to the bathroom) Crumpet delivered 5 healthy kittens. They all look to be black and white (though one is possibly brown tabby and white.) I’m giving her a few hours of peace and quiet before I pull the babies out so I can quickly change the bedding and check them over.
Dewey just got brushed, and he’s trying to decide whether he liked it. (It sure does make his furs look PRETTY!)

Huey, Dewey, & Louie playing. (They are so cute that it’s a testament to my strong will that I don’t continuously pick them up and cover them with kisses. That would be a boring video for y’all, so I am standing strong. As soon as this video ended, there were many kisses given.)

Crumpet delivered 5 kittens between midnight and 5 am this morning, while I slept juuust on the other side of the wall without a clue that anything was going on. I’ve been taken by surprise before, but not THIS much by surprise!
All kittens are healthy, wiggling, and nursing great. Mama hasn’t stopped purring, and I am doing my best to give her some peace and quiet (though I do sneak in from time to time to stare at the little family.)
Instead of using the crate to have her kittens, Crumpet opted to use the much smaller cube. She’s the boss – they all fit comfortably, and hopefully as they get larger she’ll be amenable to a move to the crate. We’ll see!
Good night innernets. (From back: Huey, Louie and Dewey.)

Crumpet is soo adorable with her purring and kneading! What a terrific mom she is!
Oh, yeah, the Ducklings are ever so adorable, too. You must have smelling salts by the door of each room they’re in to revive you from your death of cute with each visit. You are one lucky foster mom!
That Crumpet sure is a sneaky little mom, she gave you no signs that she was close to delivering them. What a cute batch of buns!
Oh my!
Things sure happen fast in your place!
Crumpet reminds me so much of my Poppy, she purred and purred for all the world and biscuits by the millions! She was never a mother but I always thought she’d be brilliant but as I got her at five or six months she was straight to the vet.
Congratulations Crumpet and congratulations again on being so sneaky and quiet.
And those Ducklings are going down in history for adorableness and so good they’re growing so well on the cat tree
Is it too soon to speculate that there might be some extra floofy Crumbs?
You make good kittens !! you can certainly take credit for all the beauty thatt is under your roof. And Crumpet !!! I wished I lived closer. She takes the cake !!
Has Crumpet *even* stopped purring since she arrived? I am still swooning from the cute, with the Ducklings having so much fun in their new space and now the babies. Whew!
She occasionally stops purring for a tiny amount of time (I like to think she’s having deep thoughts), but she starts right up again!
