Have you ever had a momma cat this protective of her babies? I’ve only been following for a few years and I don’t remember hearing how sensitive the mom was to her babies crying/your handling.
As I recall, Isabella was super protective, too. Some mamas just seem to be a little more intense (ie, kind of scary!) when it comes to their kittens. Crumpet is just a tad more intense, which is perfectly understandable – after all, we don’t know what she went through before she came to us. She’s calmed down a lot, but she’s got me trained and I’m pretty hesitant to poke the bear. (And the funny thing is that the “worst” she’s ever done is hiss and smack at me – no claws! – a few times!)

I know you take good cleaning care of the blankets and rugs, but do you wipe down the towers too? You probably do!
I vacuum the cat trees/towers whenever I vacuum the room (and sometimes I brush them). Between litters, I spray them down heavily with Rescue disinfectant and let them dry well. AND I just got a steam cleaner, so when I clean the foster room between litters now, I’ll also steam-clean the trees. (Steam and ammonia are the only things that kill coccidia, and I don’t feel like it would be safe to use ammonia on the trees.)

Be careful with Babka! As Balki Bartokomous would say,
“Because if you don’t make bibbibabkas the traditional Myposian way the bibbi in the babka goes boom.”
“The bibbi in the babka goes boom?”
“Basically.”
I made Fred watch the Bibbi Babka song with me (embedded below) after I named the kittens (because obviously I immediately thought of Balki’s Bibbi Babkas). I loved that show so much! (We’re talking about Perfect Strangers, for anyone not in the know.)

Huey from above, lookin’ sleepy.
Huey keeps an eye on me while Louie keeps an eye on the view.
And then moves to the heated bed.
Louie’s pretty sure he needs a snuggle.

That milk bar is getting awfully crowded.
Crouton guesses she’ll wait her turn.
It’s such a rough life for Ciabatta.
Babka invites Pumpernickel to smell her foot.
Crumpet keeps an eye on the babies.
Babka gives me the ol’ hisseroo, while Pita looks less than impressed.

Oh, that magnificent (and goofy) Khal!

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Not quite there yet, Pita, but good try!
Throw Back Thursday: Canasta, in 2021, hugely pregnant. She still had 5 days to go before she gave birth! She and Uncle Charlie were buddies while she waited to have her kittens.

Kittens at the milk bar. (You can see that Crumpet is more interested in being petted than letting the kittens nurse – when she started to get up at the end, I ended the video and left the room so she’d stay put. I mean – not that the kittens aren’t getting enough to eat, they are chunky little monkeys!)
I think Huey likes the air blowing out of the top of the air purifier. Keeps him fresh!

The Duckling kittens continue to have a BLAST with that tunnel bed.
Ciabatta gives me a half-hearted hiss, and Babka – behind him – is all “Yeah! What he said!”
“Good night innernets.” (Dewey)

Perfect Strangers was a great show! I had forgotten about the babka skit. Good memories.
and YAY for Pita being adventurous!
I had totally forgotten Perfect Strangers! It was hilarious!
I’ll bet Pita makes it out of the crate before Sunday.
OMC, the bunny feets on Dewey!
