REMINDER: The Forgotten Felines of Huntsville online auction is still going on over at Facebook. It ends Saturday evening at 7 (central time), then Monday Teresa and Karen will be reporting to Love & Hisses Central for packing and shipping day. (Maybe there’ll be kittens by then!)
Up for bid are cool things like this pie plate scratcher!
Lots of cool stuff, so go check it out!

Haha: “I still think it’s entirely possible we’ll have kittens this weekend – and also entirely possible we won’t.”
Well, one thing that is certain is that you’re extremely wise (and funny to boot)!
I like to hedge my bets. This way, when Monday comes without kittens, no one can say “You promised kittens this weekend!” 🙂

I think in the past you’ve also mentioned that the nipples changed towards delivery. I don’t want to look at a ladys nipples without her permission but do you have a sense if they’ve gotten larger or darker?
They’ve gotten larger, but they haven’t darkened yet, and aren’t filling with milk yet either. (I spend a lot of time examining her nipples, if you couldn’t tell.)

How could anyone not want to snuggle up with Jake?
Most of the permanent residents will tolerate Jake’s need for snuggles (and head-butts at canned food time) for a little while, but he really likes to snuggle up and have his head and ears licked, and most of the permanent residents are like “I am not your mother.” Khal will put up with him for a long time, lick his head, give him snuggles, and so Jake knows where to get what he wants.

Robyn, didn’t you previously use Dr. Elsey’s cat litter? I think I started using it after reading one of your reviews (and still do). Why the change to Tidy Cat?
I did previously use Dr. Elsey’s, but I was adding activated charcoal to it to help with the litter box smell. When I saw that Tidy Cat had an unscented litter with activate charcoal already in it, I decided to give it a try. It works well and is a little cheaper, so I’ve been using it for a few years now. I will say, I think the Dr. Elsey’s clumps a little better than the Tidy Cat. I also think that Dr. Elsey’s doesn’t track as much as Tidy Cat (we were recently given several bags of Dr. Elsey’s, so I’ve got that in a couple of the litter boxes), so I may be switching back.

Mimosa’s got the bright eyes of “Oh, is it time for the belly rub?”
She fell asleep like this with her head in my hand, and then my arm fell asleep, and I didn’t want to move and wake her up (she was sleeping so peacefully), so by the time she woke up and wandered off for a bite to eat, my entire left side was numb. But WORTH IT.
Should Herself have kittens over the weekend, I’ll post first on social media and then in a new post here (I won’t wait ’til Monday to announce, at least.) If you see nothin’ new here, then there’s nothin’ new!

Newt in the back yard at the beginning of November (and Charlie behind him and Jake over to the right under the tree.) Just since November, the back yard has changed a lot – those trees (the one on the far left, and the one on the right) are no longer there. They were both disease-ridden and starting to come down on their own, so we had them cut down, along with the awful, terrible Bradford Pears on the right side of the yard. At the moment, except for a Crape Myrtle bush in the far left corner of the yard, there are no trees in the back yard at all. (We’ll plant a couple of trees eventually, once we figure out what’s going where. I want at least a dogwood tree back there!)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Today marks 3 weeks since we got Mimosa! Here are her belly comparison pics. She’s gone from 10 pounds, 10 ounces (4.8 kg) to 13 lb, 2 ounces (5.95). She has now made us wait 21 days. Of the 14 previous pregnant cats we’ve fostered, 8 of them have had their kittens before the 21-day mark. The other 6 had their kittens later. (The longest we’ve had to wait for kittens was Canasta, last year, who waited an amazing 47 days.)
Mimosa is hanging in there, but I sense that the time isn’t too far off. She’s restless, super friendly, and more talkative than ever. She has checked out both of the crates, though hasn’t spent much time in either of them.
Throw Back Thursday: 1 year ago we were fostering Canasta and growing increasingly more frustrated while waiting for her to give birth. At this point, despite the size of that belly, we still had 9 days to go before she gave birth (her kittens were born on February 26th, the first two literally right in my lap, which was both gross and awesome.) Also despite the size of that belly and the predictions of a humongous litter, she had 6 normal-sized kittens.
The view from above. (Mimosa: “I know what you’re doin’, lady.”)
Throw Back Thursday: 2 years ago we were fostering Isabella and her 5 kittens, Los Mewchachos (who were born in our house). They were born on February 11th!

Watching the belly and counting seats at the milk bar. Hey, while I’m waiting for kittens I’ve gotta take my fun where I can find it, am I right?
Throw Back Thursday: this time in 2017, we had just added Frankie to our permanent residents. He showed up on our doorstep, very skinny and yelling for attention. We brought him inside with the intention of fostering him, but he was FIV positive and his mouth was a terrible mess. Due to him needing to be on medication for a month or more, and also due to how well he got along with the permanent residents we had then, we decided to make it official.
Unfortunately he was only with us for a little over 3 years. He passed away in February 2020. We loved him an awful lot while he was with us; he was such a sweet boy. ❤️ (He and Jake were best friends, and every evening they’d tussle. Frankie’s favorite fighting technique consisted of turning his back end to Jake and trying to sit on him.)

Good night innernets. (Mimosa)(Please note that both times I whisper “Are you asleep?”, she does the kneady paws.)
