Well, looky who’s back. For a LITTLE while. For a BRIEF period of time.
For a FEW DAYS.
Yes, that’s Kennebec, aka “Lunk”, who apparently should have been named “Boomerang.” He’s done something to his eye.
It doesn’t always look quite this bad. It seems to get a bit better, then a bit worse. I brought him home Saturday morning, and by last night after plenty of applications of ointment, his eye wasn’t really any better. I was going to give him ’til tomorrow, but I’m going to see if I can get an appointment for today. It hurts me to look at – but it’s not slowing HIM down any.
I accused Fred of sneaking by Petsmart and poking Lunk in the eye so he’d have to come back here.
He is NOT staying, so get that thought out of your heads, y’all. Seriously.

You can’t see her – she didn’t fit into the picture – but Stinkerbelle was in the cat bed next to that one directly above him, glaring at him in hatred and disbelief that he dared to get so close to her.
Batman, keeping an eye on the ceiling fan.
Apparently it’s pretty amazing.

Little Miss Innocent. Don’t be fooled. I’m sure she was mere seconds from attacking my foot.
“Who needs babies? I gots mah string!”
Pregnant? Not pregnant? Still don’t know! There’s that roundness around her rib area that looks like a baby belly to me, but nothing that unequivocally states “This here cat is pregnant.”
This is what I figure – she was found two weeks before she came to me, and as of this morning she’s been with me for two weeks. Therefore, the least amount pregnant she could be is four weeks, and according to everything I’ve read online, they start to show around 5 weeks. (Also, as an aside, she has NOT gone into heat in the two weeks she’s been here, so… a point in the “pregnant” column, maybe?)
I imagine that surely we’ll know one way or the other by around the beginning of March.
(Of course, we also might walk into her room and find babies before then, which could also be a really good clue as to whether she’s pregnant or not!)

“If she goes into heat and comes looking for me, I’m going into hiding.”
The wimminfolk (Kara and then Maggie) both went into heat before I was able to have them spayed, and both of them viewed Spanky as the answer to their prayers. Spanky did not appreciate my laughing at his dilemma, but I couldn’t help it. It was funny!

Poor Kennebec! Hasn’t it come to your mind that maybe Kennebec poked himself in the eye to return to The Kitten Paradise of yours? If I were him, I would at least consider pros and cons 🙂
after all, he is a smart kitty
Poor Kennebec. That actually happened recently to my 13 y/o cat, Penny. She had an ear infection that was leaking into her eye. She did not appreciate drops in her ear AND eye!!
Oh, it occurred to me. 🙂
Poor Kennebec. Eye injuries can be so painful! I hope he heals up soonest!
I’m glad Lilybet is happy and healthy. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s up with her reproductive system I guess.
I also can’t believe it’s been a year since you got Emmy. Time just whips by, doesn’t it?
It really does! I kind of knew that it was last February, but still took me by surprise to see her face. 🙂
What self respecting lady cat wouldn’t regard Spanky as the answer to their dreams? 🙂
I had something else to say, but it all flew out of my head when I saw Spanky. I just love that old man and his little pink mouth.
Aw, poor Kennebec! I looks painful and icky gross…
Ooo, how cute is Mr. Spankers?! No wonder the wimminfolk were all “helloooo, handsome!”.
Ouch, Kennebec! Hope that eye clears up quickly.
Lilybet is so pretty. She looks very much like my Curious, except Curious has more orange on her nose and green eyes. I love torties!
Oh my, Kennebec 🙁 That’s not good. Feel better quickly, honey!
Poor baby Kennebec! That eye looks painful. Rest up sweetie!
“For a LITTLE while.”
“For a BRIEF period of time.”
“For a FEW DAYS.”
For – EVER????!
The look on Spanky’s face just kills me.
Poor Kennebec….ouchie….
Had to laugh at Spanky. Had a foster momma cat go into heat once here and she thought ALL the boys were amazing. And of course, my boys are not only neutered but neutered early. They kept looking at Chiclet like she was an alien. 🙂
LOL – that’s exactly how Spanky looked at Maggie and Kara, like they were speaking a language he didn’t understand. 🙂
I hope Kennebec’s eye clears up and I hope Lilybet IS pregnant.
actually in order for someone to suggest she is pregnant she had to be several weeks along to begin with.
And cats tend not to go into heat in the winter time.
So I’m going with the “not” category.. but I am so hoping I am wrong..
For the purposes of this exercise, we’re pretending that no one said she was pregnant (but I’m going to see about taking her to the vet this afternoon when I take Lunk, to see if the vet can poke and prod and give me her opinion!)
Oh, and I would be okay with Lilybet not being pregnant – I’ve certainly enjoyed having her here, and I think she’d make a great mother, but it’s not like there won’t be more pregnant mamas coming along. Unfortunately!
I just want to hug little Kennebec. His eye does look like it hurts!
Spanky is so cute! He is reminding me of my Junior, that I lost in December.
Purrrrrrs to Kennebec!
My first boy cat was neautered early so when by first girl cat would go into heat and stick her butt in his face he’d look at her like she was crazy but then give me the look of betrayal almost. He had absolutely no clue as to why she was doing it. LOL He’d look at me like it was all my fault she was doing it. Like, “Moooooom, she’s doing it again. And I don’t know why, what the F*** does she want from me. You, you are to blame for this mess! Yes, you!” I felt so bad for him, especially since it WAS my fault, I couldn’t afford to get her fixed so she went into heat earlier and earlier and stayed in heat longer and longer until I finally had the funds to get it done. Ah, the peace.
I”m sorry Robyn, but are you trying to convince Fred, us, or yourself here about Kennebec?
HA!! Nice.
Shush, you. 😀
Wow, look at that tail on Batman!
Aww, poor Kennebec! Get better fast pretty boy, you need a forever home!
Poor poor Spanky! MOL With that look on his face, it’s a wonder any of the wimmen folk come after him!
I had a couple of neutered males when I got Star and she went into heat just about every freaking week! (so get her fixed, idiot, duh! what was I thinking!?) But she didn’t go after the male cats. No, she was mad for my teen nephew’s feet! And, no offence, darling nephew, but they were some pretty stinky feet! HE was the one with Spanky’s look, “She’s doing it again!” he’d whine at me… and I’d laugh of course!
What’s going on with Baby Beans? Is anyone interested? He’s so cute with that triangle face and slightly angry ears. Of course I’m a sucker for the odd kitties.
Not to mention those amazing eyes that just pierce you.
No, there’s been no interest yet, unfortunately. I wish his people would hurry up!
Kennebec’s eye looks so painful! Glad it’s not slowing him down, though…
Harley went into heat before I got her spayed. She and Simon (neutered since kittenhood) had already become friends, and she suddenly fell in love — or at least lust! He had NO idea what was going on – it was hilarious! After I got Harley fixed, she still remained extra fond of Simon, but after a while, I’m pretty sure she didn’t know why either…..
Happy healing K! Um, what is your blog doing? It scrolls down through day after day and now I’ve got all this code stuff under my comment. Is that just me or a new thing now? Weird! But I could close it so I guess i’m not gonna run wild changing the way your page looks or anything. Just wonderin’.
It was weird for me this morning, too. I almost commented on the changes to the blog! Must have been a WordPress error.
Hm, it all looks ok now… and the spell check thingy and the other icon are supposed to be there in comments, yes?
Yeah, those are supposed to be there. If you have any other problems, let me know. I don’t know that I’ll be able to fix it, but I can sympathize. 🙂
I enjoyed seeing the chicks last week and then saw this today.

Oh, I LOVE the fancy chickens. I REALLY want a Frizzle!
Spanky! I just want to squeeze him to pieces. I have a soft spot for old kitties–my 21 year old is sitting next to me, purring up a storm without even being petted. Deaf as a doornail and sweeter than sugar.
One of mine is occasionally terrified of ceiling fans, as if she were smacked by one (never, of course). Maybe batman is thinking it’s his bat signal!
Poor Kennebec.. Please give him a hug and kiss from me. He’s got the best people taking care of him right now he could ask for.
