Weekly Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr Roundup.
Fun fact: now that Canasta has been with us for 28 days, she has the distinction of being the mama cat who has made us wait the longest for her kittens, except for Margeaux (43 days – and we didn’t know she was pregnant when we got her.)
Someone’s going to ask what the vet has said about Canasta, and this is where I tell you that I don’t see a reason to put Canasta through the stress of a vet visit when she’s clearly healthy. If she weren’t eating, using the litter box, or in any way even slightly distressed, of course I’d get her to the vet. But those kittens are going to come when those kittens want to come, and obviously it’s not time yet.
Thursday she started digging at one of the cabinet doors, which made me think the TIME WAS NIGH (it wasn’t), and I put a second crate in front of that cabinet door (because I don’t want her to give birth in ANY of the cabinets, thank you very much.) She’s looked in both of the crates, but hasn’t spent any time in them.
She’s going to keep us waiting, is what I’m saying.

I love the way Charlie completely ignores Canasta when she slaps at him. (Of note: I haven’t heard her hiss at him for at least a couple of days now!)
Good night innernets. (Permanent Resident Alice Mo the Calico.)(Sure does love her daddy, yo.)
Honestly, this girl and her goofy little face. I just want to squeeze her every time I see her!
“You has feather teaser?” (Canasta and Charlie are ready to play.)
“I SEE you, lady.” Canasta doesn’t appreciate my attempts to document the size of her belly.
Good night innernets. ❤️ (Canasta)
Another week, another Canasta belly pic! On the left: January 10th, weighing in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces. On the right: February 7th, weighing in at 11 pounds, 1 ounce.

Post-breakfast Canasta. If you look at the bulge of her belly right after I ask her if her breakfast was yummy (around 12 seconds in), you’ll see belly movement.
Good night innernets. ❤️ (Canasta)
“Charlie showed me some YouTube videos of kittens being born, and if you think I’m gonna do THAT, you can THINK AGAIN.”

So pregnant, so playful. That belly doesn’t hold Canasta back one tiny bit!

There’s belly movement going on. My prediction: kittens Friday or Saturday. Fred’s predicting tomorrow (Thursday). (We are nearly always wrong, though.)
Good night innernets. (Canasta)
Happy #Thlurrrpsday, and no – there are no kittens yet. “When?” you ask. Don’t know! “How many?” you ask. Don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Throw Back Thursday: 6 years ago, when we lived at Crooked Acres, I would wake up, go take my shower, and then open the bathroom door to most of the permanent residents sitting in the hallway waiting for their breakfast. Archie was pretty new to the family, but he knew how to let me know he was starving.
Throw Back Thursday: February 10, 2018: the exact moment permanent resident Khal decided I was okay. I sat in the recliner where Fred usually sits, Khal jumped up in my lap, and he’s been harassing me to keep petting him ever since.
Throw Back Thursday: Charles and Caroline from 2019. Those two gave me SO MANY great pictures and this is one of my favorites. This one was taken 3 days before she had her 5(!) kittens, the Half Pints (you can see Albert and Willie at @albertandwillie, Almanzo is now Cooper at @dixonpaws, and Charles and Caroline are @charles.and.caroline). I cannot believe those kittens are almost 2!

1 million months pregnant, still playful. We’re gonna shake those babies out of Canasta!
Good night innernets! (Canasta)
Canasta’s still hungry & pregnant.
Good night innernets. (Canasta)
Canasta: last Sunday on the left, this morning on the right. Those kittens have definitely dropped! She ate her breakfast in about 30 seconds flat and is currently playing with Charlie. I would be surprised if we had kittens today. Is all I’m saying. SIGH.

We have alien belly! Let ’em out, Canasta. LET. THEM. OUT!
Good night innernets. (Canasta)
