Weekly Instagram/Facebook Roundup!
Apparently, once Paul Simon is completely comfortable with you, he will allow the belly rubs.
Garfunkel likes to knead the air while I rub his belly.

Paul Simon and the terrible, horrible, awful rough life.
“Go ‘way, lady. We is havin’ snuggly bro time.” (Paul Simon & Garfunkel)
Dennis could use some snuggles and maybe a smooch or two.
“I don’t always bite Dennis on the butt and make him cry, but when I do, it makes me laugh and laugh.”
(Please note: I was exaggerating for comic effect. Archie might occasionally get overexcited during his morning zoomies and get rough with Dennis, but we put a stop to that immediately. No one picks on da BAYBEE.)
Snack time in the back 40. (Gracie was still snoozing in the pig shelter, she’s not as food driven as George is!)
The mouse pad I ordered for Fred arrived today.
Archie, hangin’ with Paul Simon and Garfunkel.
Silly little charmer. (Garfunkel, failing to be feral)
Gracie is a big fan of morning snacktime , if you were curious.

Hi Robyn, I am a pets sitter and one of my client-friends got a kitten and now he has been diagnosed with FIP. What is your experience with that? Can one avoid that when getting a cat from a kitty shelter?
I would HIGHLY recommend that kitten go to a different vet for a second opinion. FIP is a diagnosis of last resort, meaning if they can’t figure out what it is they think it is FIP. If you have a vet that isn’t as good at diagnostics they might come to the conclusion that it is FIP when it is something else. I’ve seen it happen several times.
FIP is a very rare mutation of a very very common virus. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, nor to ensure that a cat won’t get it. There is a vaccine for FIP, but no one recommends it.
I had a kitten who was diagnosed with FIP. I was told there was a test to prove it – the titre test – which is wrong. the only way to know it is FIP is with a biopsy, but by the time you are thinking it is FIP the cat is not healthy enough for it so it is confirmed with a necropsy. There are vets who believe there are other tests that prove FIP, but again none have been conclusive.
The original virus is very contagious, and most cats have been exposed to it, but once it mutates it is no longer contagious.
