You have an exhaust fan in the closet with the litter boxes?!? Genius!! Please tell us more about that setup.
It’s located on the wall above the desk where the kittens have their Churu (you would think I’d put the litter boxes under the exhaust fan, wouldn’t you?) When we moved into this house, none of the bathrooms had exhaust fans, so we had them put in. And since we were doing THAT, I suggested we put an exhaust fan in the closet where the litter boxes would be going, and Fred went for it! I don’t run it all that often, but sometimes when things are particularly stinky I flip it on, and it helps a LOT. My only complaint is that it’s kind of loud, so I’d like to replace it with a quieter fan. If it were quieter, I’d likely run it more often.
If we ever sell this house (which we’re not planning to!) I imagine potential buyers will be wondering what THAT is all about, much in the way we wonder WHAT THE [EXPLETIVE] the people who owned this house before us were thinking when they did (whatever).

From the ‘previously’ links, this one is a fun photo commentary read, i enjoyed. And it’s amazing how much your photography has improved over the years, you’re absolutely pro at it now!
I sure did love those Brady Bunch kittens – and I think that the improvement in photography can be attributed not only to my own skills (which have definitely improved), but also the equipment I’m using. I mean, 13 years ago, who knew you could take such amazing pictures with your phone?

Is it my imagination from a few recent photos, or is Shelby finally starting to move into the long torso phase, and maybe even starting to grow out her ears?
She is definitely stretching out and growing into those ears!

Awww Newt! How old is he now? How is he doing?
Newt will be 18 on January 6th, and he’s doing great! He’s slowing down, but he charges into the kitchen nearly every morning and demands his second breakfast – and sometimes when he’s done with that, he demands a third! Needless to say, that boy gets all the breakfast he wants.

Will you be getting a new pie plate for the present and future kittens and their moms? I’ll miss the daily “ingredients”.
Yes, I’ve got a few pie plates in reserve. The company that was selling them on Amazon is no longer doing so – but it’s been out of stock before (I think another company was selling them before), so I’m hoping they come back before I run out!

Oh, a bay window for the kittens! Yes, indeed. Do you think Fred would change his mind if we all did a petition? 🙂
Probably not! What he’ll do is wait a couple of years and then present the idea as his own and then (when I protest that I suggested that YEARS AGO) he’ll claim I never said anything to him). That’s what usually happens, anyway!

Did you see the NASA cat named Taters in the news/youtube? Video of him chasing a laser light was sent (via laser, of course) from 19 million miles away in deep space – a science first. Although Taters looks more like Drum than Norland or Russet or Kennebec or Stompers, I like imagining his name was given by a Love and Hisses fan.
I had not seen that, so I went and found it. Too cute! (That definitely looks like a grown up Drum… and Taters is an excellent cat name.)

Seeing the kittens on your bed, what do you think about all the “studies” that say cats are germy gremlins and you should never allow it? Personally, I decided to ignore the “experts.” LOL
I generally ignore those studies ’cause cats might be germy and gross but there is NOTHING germier and grosser than humans. Also, good luck with trying to tell cats that they can’t go wherever they want.
(For the most part, if someone has a problem with cats/kittens on my bed or my table or pretty much anywhere in my house, I remember that they weren’t invited to my home (and certainly not into my bed), and then I feel sorry for them, because a bed loaded down with purring (germy!) kittens is the BEST.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And then they curl up and snooze together!
Ouiser and Shelby have a snooze (or they would if I’d stop taking their picture.)
And then it’s tussle time on my bed.
“I am PLEASANT,” thinks Ouiser.
Drum likes to perch on the air purifier and let me know that he’s pretty sure it’s Churu time.
Ouiser, Shelby and Drum enjoy some sunshine.
Then Ouiser decides to move to the windowsill where she’ll get more sun.
I bought this little sofa at Aldi over the summer, and the only reason you see Khal in it in this picture is because Fred had just put him there. The sofa stayed there for a couple of months, then Alice had a urinary tract infection (poor Alice) and peed on it, and I figured that was a sign so I moved it out to the garage (though I did clean the pee off of it) and Trixie and Rocco cannot get enough of it. (You’ll have to trust me on that, because I don’t have a picture as proof.)
Thus ends the saga of the cute Aldi pet sofa, which will live in the garage as long as the neighbor’s cats like it.
Speaking of Khal and Trixie and Rocco, I think I’ve mentioned that Khal and Charlie absolutely HATE Trixie and Rocco. Charlie will growl and hiss and slap at the window if he sees them on the front porch. Every so often, Rocco will climb over the cat fence (which is made to keep cats IN the back yard, not OUT, after all). It happened last week and Khal had a hissing, screaming fit at Rocco (who was all “What’s this guy’s problem?). Fred got Rocco out of the back yard before any fisticuffs could occur, fortunately. Yesterday I saw THIS POST from 2016 wherein Khal (who we were still calling Fancypants v2.0) had come into the back yard and Newt was fuming about it, and it made me laugh. MY HOW THE WORM HAS TURNED, KHAL.
Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Ouiser always looks so AMUSED.
“This is my chair now. You go away. ” Remember that sweet face? (I hope so, it hasn’t even been a week since she went home!) That is Sakana (formerly M’Lynn), and look at how comfy she is, with that sweet face and those kneady paws. ❤️
(Thanks, Amy!)
Looks like Drum and Ouisers are the jumpers of this litter (though give Shelby a few weeks and she’ll probably start jumping too!)
It’s a big world, little Shelby.
With a little coaxing, Drum makes the leap.
Oops, I almost forgot that it’s Thlurrrpsday! Fortunately I remembered at the last minute, and so I present to you: a thlurrrp each from Drum and Clairee, a smile from Ouiser, and a “Not gonna, and you can’t make me, stop fooling around and gimme the Churu” from Shelby.
Good night innernets. (Clairee, who does not look sleepy at all, and Ouiser)
Love the Newt story! Isn’t that the way, what goes around comes around!
Your pics are great, the captions even better!
People who are so afraid of a few germs that they don’t let their pets sleep on their bed with them are people who don’t know love, only fear. I’d rather live in love, thanks. My life is better for having the love of animls. You’ll never get away from germs, no matter how hard you try, so you may as well live your life while you have it and quit fussing.
Whenever I see advice to wash hands after petting pets, I always want to ask whether I should wait until my cat moves off the stack of towels to dry my hands or should I just use her fur.
Thanks for a laugh! And hey, note that cats seek *clean* towels…
Wait! Did something happen to the pie plate that I missed?
It went home with M’Lynn.
Love this snippet of khal and Newet history.
Warming his bloomers! We talk like that here too. Language of the lands of fouffy monster cats. Absolutely love this.
