Adele discovered this box the other day and sat there for the longest time. (Those are muddy paw prints that Tommy left behind. I’m having a hard time throwing that box away, Tommy loved it so much and it reminds me so strongly of him.)
Adele’s favorite place to lay: on my desk, looking out the window.
Please ignore the dirty ears in this picture. I took it before we cleaned them – she had ear mites, and they treated her for them when she went for her spay, but they still needed cleaning (they still need more cleaning now, to be honest. There was a lot of yuck in there. Poor baby!)
It cracks me up that Adele will hiss at Pink every time she sees her, but she never ever hisses at any of the permanent residents. Not even Stinkerbelle, who hates her with the heat of a thousand suns. I think she’s scared of Stinkerbelle, actually. I don’t blame her!
“I not know what HER problem is, but I’ll just lay here and play with this track toy.”
Sunday night, Fred put Adele and Pink in the foster room at bedtime. Pink flopped down on a cat bed and went to sleep, but Adele did NOT think she should have to be in THAT room with THAT KITTEN, and she expressed her displeasure quite loudly. She finally settled down, and then at 3:15 or so she started up again, and Fred let her out.
I guess what I’m saying is that for the rest of their time here, Adele and Pink will have the run of the house. They just better steer clear of Stinkerbelle in the middle of the night, because I do NOT want to be woken up by a patented Stinkerbelle Scream!

Every single morning, after snack time is done and over with, Maxi does this.
She sits there in the middle of the driveway, staring at the house until one of us uses the garage door opener to let her into the garage.
I’d say she has us trained!

I know that you’re not planning to adopt Adele, but I think she sees herself as one of the permanent residents, from her behavior!
ETA: also, she’s practically my dream cat, and I’d adopt her in a blink if I were on the same continent.
Well, to be fair I think that all the fosters think they’re permanent residents! π
I know mine do.
I wonder if Adele hisses at Pink due to her smell from being at the vet and surgery…? They have that weird antiseptic smell.
Have you thought of framing Tommy’s paw prints?
I am with Mercy. I would adopt Adele in an instant if four was not my limit.
I am right there with you about framing the prints from Tommy. How wonderful would that be to have him with you forever that way. I was going to say not to throw away the box and frame the prints but GD beat me to it. Great minds and all that…
Adele is lovely beyond words. I cannot wait until you bring out Da Bird and Pink imitates her namesake and starts doing gymnastics in the air. Love Pink, both of them.
Oh frame the prints! What a wonderful memory!
I like this idea! I very well might do that…
I wonder if it’s a hierarchy thing. Adele doesn’t hiss at permies because she knows she’s a guest in their home. But Pink? Adele knows that kitten arrived AFTER her and, well, seniority IS seniority!
Maxi’s powers of telepathy are pretty impressive!
I think you are right about the hierarchy. Good point. Ultimately though they will end up being friends and cuddling together. Just out of reach of Stinkerbelle.
That was my guess too.
Yes to the hierarchy theory. Plus, don’t forget the “Cali-tude” factor. Our calico is Miss Dominance (Dominatrix?!?) in our 5-cat household, even though she is the youngest. She keeps trying to push the other, older cats around, but they aren’t having it. Lots of hissing ensues, some pointed ignoring of her, occasional chasing and even a growl once in awhile (that’s when I know it’s time to intervene). We already have her little stocking of cat toy “coal” ready for Christmas (available at Target). She’s a pill, and I know it, but she’s my baby and I still love her! (Though she makes me so mad sometimes!)
Oh, and since both Stinkerbelle and Adele are Calicos, you have double the Cali-tude factor. (Lucky you! :-))

I find that very often, the more dramatic and troublesome certain cats are, the more their people love them. π
That’s exactly what Fred said (the hierarchy)! Luckily, as of this morning the hissing is pretty much over. Adele decided to give up the dramatics. π
Adele is SO pretty! Pink is pretty, too, but Adele…. well, it’s a good thing I live a long ways away! Harley is still annoyed that Allie came to live with us (5 years ago).
I bought one those track toys since your fosters all seem to love them so much. Roumi likes it so much I sometimes have to take it away from her in the middle of the night!
Isn’t it funny how much they love that thing? Cracks me up!
Maxi is all “hey – you in the house – open the damn door”
If we’re too slow, she’ll stomp over to the side stoop and glare through the door at us. π
HA
Reading about how Maxi has you all trained cracked me up! I love that she just sits there and stares at you from so far away–it’s hilarious.
I’d hang on to that box forever if it was me! I haven’t wiped paw prints off one window for almost 2 years now after my sweet Olivia died.
And I’d say that Adele knows exactly what that box means to you which is why she was hanging out on it pleading her case to pleeeeaaase be allowed in to the permanent resident colony!! π
