Weekly Instagram/Facebook Roundup!
Archie keepin’ warm and cozy in his Rubbermaid shelter. (And as a bonus, he smells like straw.)
Wild things. (Lizzy hasn’t been spotted playing with them yet, but she likes to watch them race around.)
I’m not kidding when I tell y’all that it has been a BANNER day. Molly CLIMBED INTO MY LAP, not just once but TWICE! (Then she walked around behind me and stared at my back, which is what she’s doing in the picture.) Both times, she sat there and let me pet her for at least five minutes, purring and purring. Her brothers have been doing that for ages, but I feared she never would. And THEN…(see next post)
Lizzy came down from the cat tree to bat at some toys! This is the first time she’s come down off the tree while I was in there. She even approached me, but skittered off when I reached toward her. This is awesome! She’s already proven that she loves to be petted when she’s laying on the cat tree platform. She’s a little love, is what she is.
“if I had known that you were going to be waving that camera thing in my face all the time, I wouldn’t have let those other ladies catch me. JUST FYI, lady.”
Oh, nothin. Just hanging out here with Lizzy, this SUPPOSEDLY feral kitten, sitting with her paw on my knee asking me to pet her. Y’know. The usual.
Love & Hisses foster kittens undergo a very strict and strenuous training program during their stay at Crooked Acres. Jethro Tull has just about mastered the art of the I Am But A Poor Wee Kitteh face.
Continuing the strenuous Kitten Training, Jethro Tull and Thunderclap Newman learn Lap Sharing. I can’t quite give them an A+ for this effort – Jethro looks a little too I Am But A Poor Wee Kitteh here – but it’s a good try. They’ll figure it out before too long.
Kitten Training continues – it’s hard work, but these are essential skills the kittens need to acquire so that they can spend the next few weeks perfecting them. Hey, they knew it was going to be hard work when they signed up. If they wanted to do something easy, they shoulda joined the US Navy SEALS. Here’s Molly Hatchett working on her Air Kneading. After her rough Pretending To Be Feral start, it’s a pleasant surprise to see just how perfect her form is.
Kitten Training continues, and Kissing Practice has begun. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Jethro Tull, you better get that horrified look off your face if you want to pass! I mean, if it’s too harrrd for you, I understand the US Navy SEALs have room for you, ya big baby. Kitten Training ain’t for wimps.
Kitten Training with Molly Hatchett. Molly’s doing her bet to ace this round, but she’s awfully close to cracking. Litter Nose: like US Navy SEALs training, only hard.
A quick game of Ear Origami before bed! Jethro Tull is not terribly impressed by this game.
I finally got a picture of it: Lizzy has a half-tail, which only adds to her charm.
Jethro Tull REALLY likes my wool socks.
Keepin’ it clean. (Jethro Tull & Molly Hatchett)
I didn’t post this one on Instagram/Facebook, but wanted to share it here – I LOVE the looks on their faces!
Good morning, sunshine. (Molly Hatchett)

We gotted our card!!! Love it.
That second to last pic is classic.
Got my card
Got my card
Got my card, tooooo!
Oh what fun it
It is to see
You know whoooo
Greeting me!
It is a fabulous card, isn’t it!!!???
So my post lady must get a kick out of my mail. Just imagine her trying to figure out who belongs to the name on my Crooked Acres card. Hee. Thanks so much. I love getting my card each year!
The picture of Lizzy showing all the butterscotch fur at her throat and chest is beautiful. I just want to snorgle her.
I, too, got my card!!! It has taken its spot right next to previous Love & Hisses cards on my fridge!!! Yep, it’s now, OFFICIALLY, Christmas time! 🙂
My card came, too, a couple days ago!
And I LOVE the #FailingToBeFeral hashtag. Twelve years ago, I adopted Harley straight out of a feral colony (she was the “friendliest” of the bunch, always the first to the feed bowl). She was at least a year old, maybe two. About 24 hours after I brought her home, she jumped up on the bed, sniffed a little, then slowly lowered herself and laid there with the most blissful look – clearly, the mattress was much comfier than the lawn! She has not become a lap sitter and is pretty skittish around strangers, but she likes to sit behind me on the back of the chair and groom my hair. She was also always appalled when the late, great Simon would escape out the door – the look on her face was always like “Dude — we’ve got it so good in here! You really don’t want to be an outside kitty!” Totally failed at being feral!
That last picture, “Good morning, sunshine.” Took me by surprise. If you sort of squint your eyes, her whiskers look a bit like ears, and the end of that black splotch between her (real) ears looks like her nose. Totally upside down.
This post made me smile and chuckle. Thank you!
I love your Saturday post, and your hashtags crack me up. #EarOrigami. #FailingToBeFeral. #IAmButAPoorWeeKitteh. I love the way your mind works. And I appreciate the insight into the arduous process that is #KittenTraining – I had no idea of the depth and breadth of the requirements! It’s a wonder ANY kitten can pass the tests. 🙂
Thanks again.
