Snack Time in the Wonka Room.
They start out all behaving, staying each to their own plate.
Still behaving, but Gus is looking at Mike’s plate, thinking “Wow, his looks REALLY good!”
But then Violet goes right to see if maybe Veruca’s snack is better than hers, so Gus checks out what’s on Violet’s plate.
However, Violet already ate her snack, so Gus goes back to his own plate.
I took these pictures one day last week. I very quickly decided that carrying four plates of snack from the kitchen, up the stairs, and down the hall, was just asking for trouble from someone who’s as prone to clumsiness as I. I tried carrying the stack of plates and the bowl of their mixed-up snack into the room, putting the plates down on the floor, and then scooping the food onto the plates.
That resulted in all four of them attempting to climb up my legs when I wasn’t fast enough with the scooping.
I settled on taking two full-sized dinner plates, putting a one blop (that’s the technical term) of snack on each side of the plate (so each plate holds two snack-sized blops), so that each kitten got their own snack, but there was enough space so that no one would feel threatened.
Oh, it just doesn’t matter what I do, it all ends up being total anarchy. Everyone starts out with their own snack, then Mike and Violet gulp their snacks down and start sniffing around Gus and Veruca’s snacks. Gus is not as into the snack as the other kittens, so he abandons his as soon as someone else starts sniffing around.
(He’s such a polite fellow. Also, no dummy. He immediately comes over to me, flops down, and strongly suggests that I pet him.)
And then Veruca eventually follows Gus, leaving Mike and Violet to duke it out over whatever’s left on the plate. One of them ends up the victor, throwing up the Paw o’ Doom and growling to stop the other one from getting any.
It’s pretty funny, actually. I’ll have to see if I can’t get a video of them in action.
“Wait! Stop! NO! No more tickling! NO MORE TICKLING.”
“Who, me? Nothin’. I don’t know WHY I look guilty. WHAT? I was just sitting here!”
Pink/ Milano, warming her behind on the heating pad (turned on low. They don’t use it much anymore, but they like having it there when they need it!). I love how these kittens look like they’re wearing striped leggings.
Tell me TimTam isn’t giving me attitude here. I give and give and give, and does she appreciate? NO. She’s all “Sh’yeah, lady. WhatEVS.”

There’s always one in the bunch that totally melts my heart, and I’m happy to admit that I have a huge crush on Hydrox. I’m not sure if it’s the poofy white mouth, or the sweet little faces he makes when you take a picture of him – but, oy, I just love him.
I have the exact same issue with the food with the bunch I have right now too (four as well, coincidentally). I used to put four plates on the floor and try to separate them all… but it didn’t matter. In the end, they were all into each other’s dishes anyway. Oh, and the grabbing! I hear ya. Like they haven’t eaten in FOREVER. I really have no idea how to get around it either. Best thing is just to run in and scoop it out as fast as humanly possible, before losing a few fingers 😉
I just wanted to let you know that your blog and all the absolutely fantastic pictures of the world’s most adorable kittens always makes me smile no matter what kind of day I am having! Someday, after my kids are gone, I would love to be able to do what you are doing.
Kittykye: I always have a secret favorite out of every litter – and Pink’s my girl. (But I love them all!) 🙂
Debbie: Thank you, that’s so sweet! 🙂
My goodness, those Cookies are growing! They make eye contact, they have teeth, what will they come up with next? 🙂
I absolutely adore Pink’s Stripey legs!!
My cat is grown and she still loves her heating pad. She’s in heaven sitting on her heating pad next to a sunny window with a view.
Oh they are all so adorable. And I totally understand the food problem. Barney is immediately on the table (when he was still on kitten food he ate up there so the big kitties wouldn’t go after it while they ate on the floor – bad idea by the way). So I let him eat, and get the food for the others and give it to them – he is usually done by that time so it is an issue of making sure each cat goes to their spot, keeping Barney away until they are done, and keeping them all at their own plates. And it was even more complicated before Floyd passed last week because there was the added issue of keeping the others out of the room where he ate (he ate separate because of his meds and I wanted him to not have the threat of food theives) and yet making sure everyone got their own food. When I give them a snack it is usually on fewer plates because it is just easier, but their breakfast and dinner are always a challenge.
And the Cookies are so cute – I am assuming they are still on the bottle which has its own issues. But no matter what in the end they are all cuties!
Awww! Milano’s pic reminds me of my friend’s cat, Kaz. She is so adept at finding heat sources that I call her Heater Cat. Can’t find Kaz? Check the registers. She loves the stove even! I think my friend has pretty much gotten her to stop lying on the stove.
Gus cracks me right up. He always looks like he stuck his paw in an electric outlet. I wonder if that fuzziness will stay with him as he gets older?
The Wonkas trying to eat off of each others plates…too funny! Love it when kitties do that…we always put out as many dishes as there are cats and inevitably you will see all the cats sticking their heads in the same dish…
Snuggly Hydrox is my “secret favorite” of the new bunch…just can’t resist that little pink nose!
I’ve got a sweet tooth. I’d like me a Hydrox, please.
Well, I love them ALL!
Kitty feeding time looks like lots of fun. That series of pictures is just too, too cute. So cute, in fact, that I’d love to use it on Your Daily Cute one day… whaddaya think? With a link back to you?
It’s too cute not to want to share!
Your Daily Cute: Of course you can use it – I’m flattered! In fact, consider this blanket permission to use any of my stuff. 🙂
Yay! I’m going to put them up on Saturday — because what is better for Caturday than cute kitties?!? I’ll post a link over to you, too, of course. I’d love to show off your fabulous blog! 🙂
