Thank you all so much for your kind words about Newt. You guys are truly the best.
He was the sweetest guy (perhaps I mentioned?) and I’m not sure how I’ll ever get anything done in the kitchen without him staring at me and waiting for me to do the right thing (ie, GIVE HIM FOOD.) He was doing really well recently… until he wasn’t. We did a lot of dithering in his past couple of days, but I think it was timed just perfectly. (We have waited too long with cats in the past, and I cannot stand the thought of a cat suffering because we couldn’t come to a decision.)
Newt was the oldest cat we’ve had – the two who came closest were Spanky (17) and Miz Poo (almost 16.) (Note: I have a page devoted to all the permanent residents we’ve had. It’s located here – and there’s also a link toward the bottom of the sidebar.)
Tabitha, the family cat we had when I was a child, lived to be 22, which I’ve always found amazing.
Of course, even if they lived three times as long, it wouldn’t be long enough, would it?

Sydney in the sun. I love the way her eyes still have that very thin line of blue around the outside. So PRETTY. (I need to get close up pictures of all the kittens’ eyes. That’s on my list!)
“What’s she doing now?”
“I dunno. Just look cute.”
Is it Churu time, do you think? (Sydney, Carmy, Richie & Jeff)
“I lubs my Churu.” We know you do, Carmy.
Jeff’s all “What doin’, lady?”
Sydney shows off her meerkat move. (There was a feather teaser up there.)
All four of ’em. Sydney’s like “CARMY. Get your big ol’ head out of the way, the people want to see ME.”
Jeff, Sydney, Carmy and Richie.
It’s a Richie/Sydney loaf, which coincidentally is my favorite!
Tina LOVES a horizontal scratcher, so when I put the tunnel scratcher in the closet (finally!) I pulled out this scratcher and she loves it.
The big news is that Carmy and Richie are adoption pending (together) and Sydney and Jeff are adoption pending (together.) (That means that people have filled out applications for them – they haven’t been processed yet, but they will be hopefully soon.)
There have been no inquiries at all about Tina, so hopefully her people will come along soon. I think she is ready to live a kitten-free life!

Charlie says “You gots Churu?”

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Richie, Jeff and Sydney are 9 weeks old, and Carmy is 9 1/2 weeks! Look how grown up they are. Isn’t it crazy, how fast they grow? (They are turning into quite the little posers, too!)
This might LOOK like Richie and Jeff having a cuddle (and Carmy looking on in annoyance), but it’s actually a tussle. As soon as I took this picture, Richie gave Jeff the ol’ chomperoo. (In other words, this is a fighty-bitey loaf.)(My favorite!)

Tina takes a break up high, and the kittens run amok.
Good night innernets. (Richie)

THIS!
Glad some of the kittens have applications, are looking cute as usual, and glad Tina is enjoying her scratcher!!
When a permie gets their wings, does the dynamic shift in the rest of the clowder? I’ve noticed changes big and small when we say goodbye here.
You are 100% right about letting our furry loved ones go. It is usually so hard to know when the right time is.
I hope Tina finds her forever home soon. Who wouldn’t want this beautiful, playful and chatty girl in their lives?
First off, I am so terribly sorry about Newt. Fabulous old man Newtles who never seemed to truly age. I still love the idea, genetically possible or not, that he was Maxi’s son. And you know that the purr chorus in heaven just got exponentially louder. *hugs for the humans, because it is never, ever easy*
Carmy has an adoption application already? Squee! Well, squee that all four kittens do, but I’ll have a bias toward that miracle tabbyness forever.
so happy fur dee kittenz!!! we hope tina gets sumwun who she kin haz lotz ov comfurrsayshuns with. maybe yoo shood dopt her?!?
“Of course, even if they lived three times as long, it wouldn’t be long enough, would it?”
No, it would never ever be long enough. They enter our lives and make us love more than we ever knew we could.
In today’s video post on Facebook, I saw what I like to describe as divine light coming through the window … maybe a paw print shape. Beautiful and serene. Rest in peace, beautiful, silly boy.
OMG, I missed yesterdays post and when I came on today, I couldn’t believe it, dear, sweet Newtles gone. You just posted a photo of him at the start of the week. I, too, have a cat who is 18 and a half years old and hope I, too, will know when it is time to let her go and not be selfish. In his later years, Newt’s face always reminded me of an old, magnificent, warrior lion! I will miss him always. God bless and peace to you Robyn and Fred and thank you for all you do.
