Note: I had the date wrong on the boys’ neuters – they are going TOMORROW, not today.
And now the girls will be going for their spays on November 2nd instead of mid-November!

Thank you all so much for your kind words about Kim. I do still hope someone will fall in love with her and want to adopt her, medical issues and all, and maybe that’ll happen eventually. ‘Til then y’all will have to suffer through 10,000 pictures of that beautiful girl. (What a hardship, right?)
A few people mentioned financial support for her, and the best thing in that vein is to donate to Forgotten Felines of Huntsville – there’s a “donate” button on the sidebar of the Forgotten Felines web page, and on the sidebar of the Facebook page. FF will be covering her medical bills, and that’s where the largest cost will lie. I am in the process of trying to find a prescription food she’ll eat (the one I’ve tried so far had her asking me why I’m so mean), so Chewy gift cards (my email is mizrobyn (at) gmail.com or Petsmart gift cards (on my Amazon wish list) would be immensely helpful.
And always, your good thoughts aimed toward this sweet girl are always so very appreciated!

Yesterday was laundry day, and luckily I had help.
Mike in the basket, Gus on top.
“Laundry’s all sorted, lady!” Thanks, Mike.
Gus climbed in to check out the basket, which he found intriguing.
Then Mike went for a snooze over here.
Nacho and Lalo took over the basket for some tussle time.
They gave me the innocent “Who, us?” eyes.
They settled down for naps in and around the basket.
Francesca prefers the bed to the basket.
Gus using Lalo’s paws as a pillow. Awww.
Gus, Lalo and Saul in the basket, Nacho in front of the basket, and Francesca over there to the side. (Mike was still elsewhere.)
Later, Kim said “I’m glad you got that laundry put away, ’cause I wasn’t about to help.”

Newt checks to see if it’s still cold outside (it’s pretty cold, for October in Alabama!)

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
It’s time to update y’all on what’s going on with mama Kim Wexler.
When she went for her spay almost five weeks ago, the vet spotted a few oddities and suggested a full blood panel. We followed up with three different trips to the vet for tests, ultrasounds, medication, and more tests, and finally got a diagnosis last week of Glomerular Disease. This is a kidney disease, and while she is not showing any clinical signs aside from some wobbliness right now, it is a disease that is going to shorten her life. Fortunately, she is at the very beginning of this disease, and she is on medication that will hopefully help to slow it down.
She is still available for adoption, but I’m being realistic – there tend not to be a lot of people who want to adopt an older cat (she’s at least 8 years old) who will require medication, a special diet, and regular trips to the vet. (If that is YOU, then by all means email Forgotten Felines at info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire. I do not exaggerate when I say that she is the SWEETEST girl.)
So at least for now (unless/until someone steps up and wants to adopt her), we will be long-term fostering her. As her kittens leave us, we will introduce her to the permanent residents, and unless there’s a big problem (I don’t expect one), she’ll be allowed free reign of the house.
This leads naturally to the question: does this mean I’m going to stop fostering for now? I don’t plan to. As long as Kim does okay with the permanent residents, fostering will continue. There might be a bit of a lull while we get Kim fully integrated, but she’s a pretty chill girl and I’m not expecting any problems.
I BEG OF YOU: PLEASE, NO ADVICE. SHE IS UNDER THE CARE OF A WONDERFUL VET.
Look who’s 12 weeks old today! (Sit down, Mike. You won’t be 12 weeks ’til Sunday.) The boys are headed off for their neuters tomorrow (the girls are going November 16th for their spays) and then Lalo and Gus will be headed home in a few days (together.)

I’m sorry about how much the camera is moving in this video – and how not-great the picture is – but I was trying to make a video while lying on my stomach on the bed and I am just not that talented.
It cracks me up that Mike – the smallest kitten – is a better jumper than his bigger litter mates. I guess he has less weight to pull him down, so he can just flyyyyy.
When I was taking pictures of the kittens for their 12-week collage, I might have been a bit too vigorous with the feather teaser, trying to get Lalo’s attention.

Nearly 4 minutes of kittens playing.
Saul has stolen Uncle Charlie’s crown, and he’s not sorry. (That crown bed is in the corner of my bedroom, and Charlie often sleeps there at night. During the day, the kittens and Kim get the run of the upstairs (there’s a barrier at the top of the stairs) and at night they go back into the foster room.)

As I mentioned yesterday my unsolicited treatment advice is frequent cuddles and churu.
Lots of churu.
That girl does love her Churu!
If Kim needs kidney food, Tuxie prefers the Royal Canin renal support D and T. Now he is normally a pig and will eat absolutely anything, but I had to try a variety when it came time to go to the prescription foods. Thanks goodness there are a lot of them! He did not care for the pates, which he normally likes, but will eat the slices in gravy. Good luck!!
Oh good, I was planning to try the Royal Canin next!
Thanks for the info on how we can help. Donating to FF, I really felt the DUH! when you mentioned that.
Well to be fair, we’ve not long-term fostered before, so it probably just didn’t occur to you. 🙂
Is Mike still the littlest?
