Here’s a Monday morning shout-out to oceanographer Gabi who AT THIS VERY MOMENT is searching the ocean for the rare and weird JakeShark, known to lurk in corners lookin’ loony and thlurrping (loonily).
(Okay, I made that up. There are weird things in the oceans, but that would be TOO weird. But Gabi IS an oceanographer and she’s working hard and we hope you’re staying safe Gabi!)

I walked into the room, and Kim (who was in the window hammock with Gus) stood up to see who was coming in. When she saw that it was me, she flopped back down, right on top of Gus.
And then he slid out from under her and AWWWW.
Saul looks like he’s making a sarcastic remark here (but was actually at the tail end of a yawn.)
Kim had a catnip toy and was rubbing her head all over it while Nacho looked on.
Then Mike brought the feather teaser to Kim in case she had the munchies.
Mama takes a bath while Lalo tromps all over her.
Nacho in the CatLady box while Mike waits his turn.
Sweet miss Francesca, the little poser.

This screened box is something Fred built. It attaches to the end of the screened porch and provides a second way into the house for the cats (you can see the cat door in the window, above the cinder block.) For some reason, Charlie and Khal (and often Jake) LOVE to hang out in that box rather than in the screened porch, even in the middle of summer when it’s hot hot hot.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
Mike is wearing his very best Ears of Annoyance this morning (and showing off his hidden stripes.)
Former fosters d’Artagnan (climbing) and Porthos (on the ground) are doing their best to entertain the humans who are working from home. (They were our fosters two years ago as part of the Mewsketeers litter.)

Oh, y’know. Just racing around the room being crazy little muffins. As they do!
Gus is working on his yoga moves.

You may have noticed that in the kittens-and-mama-eating videos I’ve posted, it’s usually just Mama Kim and Nacho, Lalo and Mike eating. The other kittens – Saul, Gus and Francesca – will eventually eat some canned food when the other kittens are done, but for the most part they’re having too much fun playing to stop and eat.
There was, indeed, a feather teaser up there. How’d you guess?!
Good night innernets. (Francesca, Lalo and Mike)
Uncle Charlie came for a very quick visit the other day while mama Kim was elsewhere, and Gus came right up to say hello (and then wasn’t sure about his decision.) Nacho, on the other hand, kept her distance and did a floof.

Mama Kim Wexler, having played with a catnip toy, hangs out in the CatLady Box and gives random kittens baths.
I was using a feather teaser, trying to get a picture of Lalo (who you can kinda see in the background), but SUDDENLY! NACHO!

It is really hard to hold the camera in one hand and whip the feather teaser around with the other – I promise I will try to get a better (more stable, less flaily) video of the kittens and the feather teaser. In the meantime, enjoy the chaos.
I mean, have you ever seen such a pretty little poser? (Mama Kim Wexler)

Permanent resident Newt is hungry and would like his second breakfast NOW, if you don’t mind. He wouldn’t mind a third and fourth breakfast too, to be honest. (Bonus sighting of Jake, who can always be found if someone is about to get fed.) (We have 7 permanent resident cats in addition to a rotating cast of fosters.)
Francesca’s all “Lady! Behind you! A serial killer! Or nothing at all! Could be either!”

Permanent resident Charlie likes to jump up into that window. (Our permanent residents are allowed outside during the day. We have a cat fence around our back yard – Google “purrfect cat fence conversion system” to see what we have – so the cats cannot leave the back yard. We bring them inside at dusk.) (The running water you’re hearing is me watering the potted plants on my patio.)

Good night innernets. (Mike and Gus)

Is it just me, or is this the stripyest (is that a word?) bunch of black cats I’ve ever seen? I’ve not seen such prominent stripes on all black kitties before. Even Mike, who’s from another mother.
It is entirely possible that it’s better lighting that’s showing their stripes so well. Though they are awfully stripey!
Mama Kim and Gus – AWWWW, indeed. Even in the picture where he’s just been flopped upon, Gus doesn’t look perturbed at all. Mildly surprised, perhaps…?
Also Jake and Newt – AWWWW again!
Thank you for the shout-out!! I love following your blog and learning about Mama Kim and her kittens! Much love from the Pacific!
