Guess who are 3 months old today?!
3 months old today, 13 weeks old yesterday. They’re all growed up! (Not really.) They’re going for their spay/neuter surgeries next Wednesday. None of them have adoptions pending, so I need to step up my game and get their silly little faces out there in hopes that their people wander along the internet, see them, and fall in love. Here’s hoping!
Here’s what a full milk bar looked like 3 months ago…
And here’s what it looks like now.
Yep, that’s Margeaux buried under all 6 kittens and Katriane with not a care in the world. They’re still nursing whenever possible – to be honest, the only mama cat I’ve ever had who actually weaned her kittens before they were separated is Katriane. The rest of them let those kittens nurse forever.
The kittens and Katriane heard that there’s a feather teaser.
Not the greatest picture, but the tilted heads on Katriane and Gabrielle (next to her) are killing me.
Beauregard huntin’ skwerls with Auntie Kat, while Margeaux looks on from the box she’s time-sharing with Newt.
Beauregard’s confused little face. “Where’d it goooo?”
6 little kittens! (And Katriane on the couch.)
We have a possum who lives under our porch. Sometimes he comes out in the day to forage for acorns and bugs. Katriane caught sight of him, and you could almost see the cartoon question mark over her head. (Yes, possums will come out during the daytime. No, he’s not rabid or sick. No, the cats don’t bother him nor does he bother them. They saw a million possums at Crooked Acres; possums and raccoons aren’t new to them.)

The Sheriff doesn’t care about any dang possum. She’s too busy dealing with the chipmunks.

So glad to see you have wildlife and aren’t terrified. That seems to be the normal reaction these days. Opposums, skunks, and others are losing their jobs of eating grubs, helping with ticks, and basically cleaning up around the yard. Ground hogs and other diggers…I love ’em but can’t figure out how to cohabitate with all those holes.
Love Kara’s picture (and corresponding comment).
I love possums! Because of their low body temperature, they very, very rarely get rabies; and they eat massive amounts of ticks, so they’re great to have around 🙂 I know they’re a little creepy looking, but they are actually pretty docile and sweet (I used to volunteer at a wildlife rescue, we had lots of possum babies during the spring baby season).
we think that squirrel is mocking them
I love possums! They are very sweet and so beneficial to have on your property. They live a hard, short life, though, which makes me sad. I think they’re adorable and can’t really understand people who seem to thing they’re ugly or scary looking. I wish people would do more research on wildlife before coming to snap judgements based solely on appearances.
“to be honest, the only mama cat I’ve ever had who actually weaned her kittens before they were separated is Katriane.”
That’s because Katriane never believed the can’t-get-pregnant-while-nursing myth. 😉
(I’m cracking myself up, but maybe this audience is too young for that joke?)
The photo of Katriane and the babies all lined up at the foot of the bed waiting on the feather teaser makes me think of them playing escalator. You know, Katriane is at the top, and each of the kittens are on subsequent step, pretending to be going dooooowwwnnn.

No? Just me, huh?
Oh? And the photo of Katriane doing surveillance on the possum? I wish I could just give her sweet head a kiss, I just love the tabby markings on her head!
