Just to let y’all know, we won’t be having kittens for a little while – until at least the end of January. Fred has requested a little break from fostering to let Dewey acclimate, and I’m going to take advantage of the time to get the foster room repainted and rearranged. That room hasn’t been painted since we bought this house 10 years ago (though I did repaint the trim about 4 years ago) and it desperately needs it.
In the meantime, I’ll post about the permanent residents (probably you’ll see a lot of Dewey and his beloved Stefan), maybe get a Crooked Acres post done, and perhaps even get some pictures of my trip from Myrtle Beach posted. The time will fly by!

You remember, I am sure, the kittens formerly known as Art Vandelay and Bert Macklin? Here are a few random pictures to remind you of how they looked back in March.
Well, they were adopted together, Art is now Patches and Bert is now Periwinkle, and this is what they look like today!
Patches and his girl. Look at that little blissful face!
Listen, SOMEONE has to make sure the trains run on time!
A budding Bond villain and her cat. (Kristin’s caption cracked me UP!)
Bond villain with another minion.
Thanks for letting me share, Kristin – and give those boys kisses from all of us!

I hope that when I walk into the room and find that Dewey has finally gathered up the nerve to flop across Stefan, I have a camera nearby.
Oh, just lay your head down, little Dewbs. Stefan won’t mind!
I feel like I’ve interrupted something.

Oh, Jake! Keep on loonin’.
I have a Periwinkle, too! Peri for short. She’s one of my current batch of foster kittens.
It’s a great name! 🙂
I have a tab open on my tablet with the video of Bert’s first day with the new legs. I play it every time I scroll by it, and I laugh, and laugh, and laugh at this every single time. I’m sure I am at least 50 of the 900 or so views. Great to see updates from adopters. Enjoy the break and hope you get some bottle babies when you return.
I just had to go look for that video, and cackled loudly. I had completely forgotten about it!
Love all the pictures. However, Jake looks like he just finished doing something VERY naughty and is feeling quite proud of himself for it! 🙂
I love how the Bond girl’s kitties’ back legs are splayed in both of the pictures!
That cracked me up, too! 🙂
Happy Happy Birthday Robyn of the perpetually youthful! 🙂 As cold as it’s been the last couple of days, it’s a perfect day to snuggle in for one more day under some cats and read and nap!! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day!
Thanks, Sherry. 🙂
Okay, so… as long as you are without fosrers, I would LOVE to get the details on how you can get the family portraits (i.e. fit seven or eight kittens in one picture and get them all to look at the same time).
Haha – but I need to have fosters so I can shoot a video to show how I do it! Wildly flailing a feather teaser is how I usually do it. 🙂
You could try to get all the permanent residents in one shot. I would like to see that. 🙂
that is never going to happen.. unless they are in their carriers 🙂
Connie is correct. 🙂
I think taking a wee break to help Dewey is great! And you know we love love LOVE to see pictures of the perms!!
By the way, Happy Mumblety-mumble Day!!! 😉
Thanks! 😉
I love Mumblety-mumble Day!!
Happy Jan 9 Robyn, if that dates means anything to you :). I love the update on Bert and Art (Periwinkle and Patches). I had a soft spot in my heart for them when they were at Crooked Acres.
The Loony Jake photo is THE LOONIEST! He definitely has done something that he should not have and is waiting for you to find out.
Enjoy the painting. I actually like painting. The color picking not so much.
Good. You can come to my house and paint! I love color picking and interior design, but hate painting.
😀
(I won’t need to paint for a while, I just got done with a major project this summer and am re-accumulating funds for the next project, which will not entail painting on my part.)
Thanks, Elaine! 🙂
I hate painting, and I am terrible at picking colors (Fred does all the color picking), but I love the final result (usually), so I guess I gotta do the work.
It’s a toss-up whether I’ll actually repaint or just shrug and say “Meh. Looks good enough!”
Do it. paint it wild and crazy colors too.. like each wall a different color.. 😀
Haha – we’re trying to decide whether to paint it a neutral color since we’re planning to sell in a year and a half or so! 🙂
Paint it marketable. Repainting that soon would make you cry.
By the way….HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
That is the LOONIEST Jake I think I’ve ever seen!!
He’s loonified! 😀
love those updates!!
Oh, Jake!! that is the perfect Monday morning pic!!
Love the updates as always.
The photos of the Bond villain and her minions really brightened my morning. Every girl needs her kitties 🙂 Thank you, Kristin, and Robyn, for sharing them.
Periwinkle and Patches are truly the most long suffering kitties on this planet. They put up with so much from their girl. I’m always amazed when they follow her into her room and hang out. I would think they’d want to get away from her.
One of my kitties was like that (she just passed yesterday). She’d always be where I was, no matter what. Preferably cuddled right up. 🙂
Oh no! Condolences.
I’m so sorry for your loss, alyslinn. <3
And Kristin, if Periwinkle and Patches keep going back for more, they obviously love their girl. 🙂
Thanks Robyn. I appreciate it. It’s been very difficult, as she was 18 and I’d had her since she was a kitten.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sounds like you were very loved.
Oh Alyslinn I’m so sorry! What a blessing that you had her for 18 years, though I know it makes the hole in your heart that much deeper… {{{hugs}}}
Thanks, Amy. ((hugs))
I am so sorry Alyslinn.. I’m glad Robyn’s post could bring a little light to your day
Thanks Connie.
Hugs to you, Alyslinn. This past week was the second anniversary of losing my Cagney – my heart cat – who was also a senior. She would insist on being part of what I was doing, and even now, I feel she is watching over my shoulder. Let your many wonderful memories of your girl help mend your heart.
*hugs* Webbthistle. Pandora was my heart cat, and to be without her is incredibly difficult. She was always snuggly, and if she wasn’t snuggly, she was squawking and meowing for food or attention.
Alyslinn, I am so sorry. Sending you many many hugs.
Thank you GD.
Sounds like they adore her and vice versa!
Happy birthday, Robyn! Hope your day is spectacular!!!
Thanks, Trudy! 🙂
Happy Birthday Miz Robyn! So nice of you to take a break for Dewey. He’s such a cutie. Will enjoy pictures of the permanents and Crooked Acres.
Thank you! 🙂
Happy Birthday Robyn, hope it’s a wonderful one!!
Thank you, Katrina! 🙂
Happy Birthday Robyn!
So, may I ask a question hopefully you or one of your readers may be able to help with? My Old Man Atticus is 18 years old, and he is in good health (for an old dude). But, he has leaned down considerably, and because he’s at a George Costanza-stage of life when it comes to grooming (Jerry to George: “You know the message you’re sending out to the world with these sweat pants? You’re telling the world ‘I give up.’”) – except for paws and his brother’s ears – and he tends to get a bit maty as a result. So, I brush him regularly, but I’m concerned that because he’s so bony at his age I’ll hurt him with the bristles of the brush. I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good brush or technique that can be used? Thanks!!!
My Pandora was a skinny wee thing (and also 18), and the only brush she tolerated was a soft bristle one from Hertz, like this (but only the soft nylon bristle side): http://www.hartz.com/Hartz_Products/Cat_Products/Grooming/Grooming_Tools/3270012414_hartz_groomers_best_combo_brush_for_cats.aspx
https://www.chewy.com/kong-cat-zoomgroom-multi-use-brush/dp/45801
I would also suggest a soft-bristled brush. But whatever you’re current using – does he act like it hurts at all? I would go by his reaction. I’ll post your question in Friday’s post to see if anyone has any other suggestions.
(Also, the “George Costanza stage of life” made me LOL!)
Thanks Robyn, I appreciate it. Yeah, it’s hard to tell; he never stays still when I’m brushing him, so it’s hard to say if he’s moving about because he likes it, or doesn’t. By the time I get the Paw o’ Doom from him telling me to stop, I’ve already passed over him a few times. But I feel as though I’m “scrapping” his bony bones, so it’s really more for my own peace of mind that I want to find something else.
(it’s become my nickname for him in his old age. “Quit your whining and being all George Costanza, you’re not starving.”)
You did interrupt something 🙂
Jake is channeling Jack Nicholson, I believe…. such a loon! Oh, Patches and Periwinkle… they’ve hit the jackpot! Enjoy your respite – oh I do hope that Dewey gets acclimated and comfortable!
