I picked up another handful of holiday cards on Friday – one of them was postmarked November 29th from just a few states away! – and got them scanned. You can see them here at Flickr, or scroll through them below.
I suspect that there are probably a few more on the way – I will add them as I get them! (And once again, thank you for the awesome cards. I love them!)

A thing that happens in this house that I am NOT VERY FOND OF is that Rocco has discovered that if he jumps up to the window sill outside Fred’s bedroom, Fred will (eventually) see him sitting there, and Fred will let him in THROUGH the window, and then Rocco will strollll (accompanied by Fred) the length of the house to the garage door, whereupon Fred will let him out. During his strollll through the house, he will stop and sniff things that interest him.
The kittens just looked at Rocco like “Who’s THIS guy?!”
And then they sniffed every spot he had touched. (I love the look on Drum’s face, like “HOW DARE.”)
Then Rocco proceeded to the garage door and went out.
(And before you start with the “OH HO HO LOOKS LIKE YOU’VE GOT A NEW PERMANENT RESIDENT LOL HA HA HA ::CLOWN HORN:: please note that I have already said repeatedly that Charlie and Khal LOATHE Rocco and Trixie and unless either of them (especially Charlie) changes their mind on that front, Rocco and Trixie will not be gaining permanent resident/inside cat status.)
Drum’s all “What we doin’, Uncle Charlie?”
Uncle Charlie: “Watchin’ the birds, kid.”
Some hero worship going on there, I think.
Shelby, Clairee and Drum are all “What? What you want, lady?”
Keeping an eye on Uncle Charlie.
I finally got out the humidifiers and set them up (which I should have done about 2 months ago) and the kittens were fascinated. (The mist coming out is warm, but not hot. They won’t get burned… and they lost interest after about 5 minutes, anyway.)
Drum, Ouiser and Shelby enjoy that cat tree quite a bit.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
Uncle Charlie was ALL up in Clairee’s space giving her some serious sniffing (I told Fred it was like Ripley and the Alien Queen) and she had to hiss him off. Fortunately, he was impressed with her hiss and backed right off.
Sakana (formerly M’Lynn) and her kitty sister Truffles are learning to play together and be friends, kind of. (Sakana is pretty chill about the whole experience, but Truffles is still coming to terms. I suspect it won’t be too long before they’re buddies!)
Thanks Amy!

Ouiser, Shelby and Clairee are snuggled together for a long nap (and Drum is on his own tree, ready for a nap also!)
Shelby is looking SO grown up all of a sudden!
Ouiser and Drum are enjoying the top level of the big cat tree downstairs (and Drum’s showing off his adorable pink toes!)
Good night innernets. (Clairee & Shelby)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉to (permanent resident) Newt, who turns EIGHTEEN today!
In 2006, we bought a house in the country. A tiny black cat (who was clearly nursing kittens) showed up every time we went out to the property. One day she showed up with a buff tabby boy (that was Newt). (There were also 4 much smaller kittens, who she eventually brought to us as well. We fostered them, and they were adopted out through Challenger’s House, the rescue I was fostering for at the time.) When we had Maxi and Newt spayed and neutered, the vet suggested that perhaps he was her kitten from a previous litter. I have since been informed that this is a genetic impossibility, but whatever their relationship he absolutely adored her, and he was the only cat she ever tolerated.
They were supposed to belong to a neighbor a few doors down, but Maxi (the little black cat) and Newt had other ideas, and so they became ours. Maxi passed away in 2018 at the age of 14, and after her passing Newt became more friendly with the other permanent residents. He can often be found stretched out on the bed with Charlie and Khal (he’s fine with Alice, too – and vice versa – but she’s not snuggly with other cats.)
He’s a good boy, our Newt, and he’s in good shape for an old guy. We recently started him on Solensia for his arthritis, and it’s helped him to move much more easily – he even plays occasionally! At one point, years ago, I said that I didn’t think Newt would ever become an indoor cat, because being indoors scared him. Well, THAT certainly changed over the years, and there’s nothing the old guy loves more than a heated, cushy bed, a bowl of food, and second, third, and sometimes fourth breakfasts.
Happy birthday, Newt! You’re old enough to vote!
Chattering at the feather teaser gives Ouiser the crazy eyes (meanwhile Clairee’s all “Yep. That’s the feather teaser.”)
Ouiser and Drum are keeping an eye on Uncle Charlie. “Where’s he GOING?! What’s he DOING?!”

Napping with Ouiser (to my left), Clairee (to my right), and Shelby (between my feet.) Drum was busy doing something else (something important, I’m sure, though I don’t know what, since I was napping with the girls!)
Good night innernets. (Clairee and Shelby)
I decided it was time to clean out my closet, realized I had wayyyy too many hangers, and tossed them on the bed to decide where to store them. Immediately, the Quality Control team was on the job!
Drum’s guarding the basket o’ toys.

Uncle Charlie wanders through the kitten room, gets the ol’ snifferoo from Drum (though Drum skitters away when Charlie tries to return the favor), and eventually ends up in the crate, of course. There’s a heated bed in there, after all!
Ouiser looks like she’s seen a ghost.
Good night innernets, from these 4 little bed hogs.

I lost it at the clown horn bit!
I’m glad you appreciated that; I was very proud of it (especially when I read it to Fred and he laughed out loud!)
I love seeing all your Christmas cards! So beautiful and festive!! Sending cards is a tradition I wish more people still participated in.
So how did you display them? Didn’t you used to string them up?
I bought a ton of very strong (small) magnets and hung about half of them on the fridge, then taped the rest to the doors to the dining room. I wish I’d thought to take a picture!
CLOWN HORN! HA!
I’m glad you appreciated that! 😀
Is it just me, or is Charlie spending a lot of time in kitten room? He seems to like this litter.
He’s okay with the kittens, but truly loves their food, toys, and warmed bed in the crate. 🙂
Does Charlie always wear a collar or is this a new development?
It’s a calming collar we tried out for a few weeks to see if it would help tamper down his hatred for Rocco and Trixie. (Didn’t really seem to make a difference, and it was starting to irritate him, so we took it off this morning.)
HAPPY BITRHDAY NEWT! My little old lady will also be 18 this year. I, too, started her on Solensia and am very happy with the results. Give him a kiss for me, please!
I may have to sneak up on him to kiss him, but I will!
Oh, no. Fred is establishing (has established!) an Ancient Cat Tradition and Rocco is going to expect to be escorted through the house All.The.Time. Shaking my head because I thought Fred would know better, but also laughing at how the cats know a softie when they see one.
Fred CLAIMS that he doesn’t let him in every single time Rocco jumps up on the window sill, but I am SO VERY SKEPTICAL of this claim.
Card 134 looks almost extremely like my wonderful Poppy
Though it is very heartwarming to think of her snuggling on Santy’s lap by the fire.
I can only hope and wish.
Thank you xx
And I should have learnt by now emojis don’t show.
Poppy crossed the rainbow bridge last September, sadly killed deliberately.
Poppy, my rock forever.
Poppy, 16 years of love ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss, Mary.
Thank you
This page has been a joy ever since I found it. I’m not totally sure how long ago, probably earlyish in pandemic shutdowns not altogether sure. But since Poppy departed it’s been one of two Facebook pages I go to, the other one horses.
My internet is fickle so sometimes I miss a whole day or more and then take ages enjoying catching up.
I still have some catching up to do plus anything from probably later yesterday and if there’s been anything so far today.
You do so much, for your cats and kittens and for all us your followers. Xx
Thank you
The happiest of birthdays to Newt, Newtles, the sweet ginger boy who I’m still certain was Maxi’s son. Genetic impossibility whatnow? 😛 Newt, may you get all the pets and scritches and snuggling in sunpuddles you want, and have many more years of the same. <3
It still surprises me to read about Khal loathing anyone, though I can imagine him going "Ugh–" ::hiss:: :flee!:: if someone he dislikes shows up.
A few months ago, Rocco got into the back yard (the cat fence is good for keeping cats IN, but not so great at keeping them OUT – and of course once they come into the back yard, they can’t get out again) and Khal attacked him. We broke it up as fast as we could (as an FIV+ cat, Khal could conceivably pass the FIV to another cat if he bit deep enough), and I was utterly shocked that Khal would do that. He’s always been a hiss and run kinda guy (I blame Charlie for being a bad influence.)
