It’s the third post in a row where I got the year right and didn’t have to delete and re-type. WILL THIS AMAZING STREAK CONTINUE? (I suspect not.) Stay tuned!
Speaking of deleting and retyping, I have to confess that 7 times out of 10, my fingers type “Shleby” when I type her name, so “Shleby” and “Shlebbs” have become my nicknames for her. Fred calls her “Shebly.”

Fred brought the Da Bird feather teaser (note: that is an affiliate link) into the kitten room, and the kittens showed off their skills. The Da Bird usually lives downstairs, because Charlie and Khal love it and it’s a good way to help Charlie burn off some excess energy when he’s feeling antsy.
As did Ouiser (look at that fierce face!)
Uncle Charlie’s been coming upstairs more and more often, and BOY does he love that crate. I wonder if it takes him back to his childhood.
From 2020: Charlie (back) in the very same crate with his foster brother Porthos, and did I just pass out from the cute? I sure did.
Drum sniffs noses with Charlie.
Then watches with interest as Charlie yawns unconcernedly.
A few minutes later, I walked into the room to find Shelby and Drum approaching the matter from a different angle.

I bought this basket for the cats, pretty sure they’d never use it (I thought it might be too small. Have I ever met a cat before?!) But Khal and Alice love to hang out in it, which pleases me.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) yesterday.
If you missed the news, Ouiser is adoption pending (assuming the application is approved, she’ll be joining a lovely family with a young cat who very much needs a friend, and I think she’ll be perfect for that). (She’ll still be with us for a few weeks; they’re not scheduled for their spays/neuter ’til the 24th.)
Our first foster update of 2024, yay! Remember Kirk? Rebekah reports that he’s “the best thing that came out of 2023.” Awww. Gee, I sure hope he learns to relax. 😉
(Thanks Rebekah!)

Ouiser and Clairee get their LEAP! on.
Oh, Drum. Can’t you TRY to relax?!

Tussling with Drum, chasing her tail, hopping out of the basket to look for more trouble: just a few moments in the life o’ Shelby.
Good night innernets. (Clairee, Shelby and Drum)

I didn’t remember Porthos having that perfect little heart mark on his belly. How adorable! 🙂
I didn’t remember it either!
Or maybe Uncle Charlie is just relishing the heating pad in the crate. 🙂
That’s very likely. 🙂
Maybe Charlie is thinking about having some kittens? Shelby and Drum seem to play together a lot?
Shelby and Drum kick each others’ butts a lot – but they all pretty much play equally with each other. This seems to be the first litter in a while that has had no bonded pairs.
And Charlie is so terrified of kittens when they’re very small that I would love to see him have to take care of a litter. 🙂
Kirk is just so-o-o-o stressed out.
Love it!
