Just sitting on the couch with Drum inside my hoodie, and petting Khal. It’s a good way to start the day. (Khal is obviously thinking “I wonder if I’d fit in there, too?”)
Shelby has located Ouiser, in case you were looking for her.
Clairee and Shelby on the bed, Ouiser and Drum on the scratchers.
“Oh my gosh, I’ve got places to be!” says Ouiser.
Drum and Clairee enjoying the sunshine.
Shelby has a think, while Drum climbs down from the cat tree to the hammock scratcher.
Ouiser on the windowsill enjoying both the coolness of the window and the warmth of the sunshine.
The ice and snow that kept us housebound for the better part of last week is finally mostly gone, and I’m not sad to see it go. I like cold weather (it gives me an excuse to climb under the heated blanket and cover myself in kittens), but I do not care for ice. We made a quick trip to the grocery store Saturday afternoon; the roads in our neighborhood were still a bit icy, but the main roads were perfectly fine.

Dewey and Louie have a snuggle.
Louie’s learning to like belly rubs (they all are, actually.)
The Ducklings are doing well – they’re deciding I’m not so bad (there’s been purring and belly rubs), and things are clearing up in the litter box area. I’ve gone from having to give them full on baths every morning to just giving them very quick butt baths and then using baby wipes to keep them clean during the day. The concept of pooping and then NOT sitting down in it before leaving the litter box hasn’t completely clicked yet. But it will! It’ll just take a little time. They’re still little guys yet. They’ll figure it out.

Newt’s eyes make me think of cracked marbles.

Posted on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr) this weekend.
Ouiser votes that we all stay in bed and be slackers today.

Oh noooo, kitten on the table! (I accuse Drum of being a bad influence, and he could not possibly care less.)
Such SERIOUS little faces. (Louie in the back, Huey on the left, Dewey on the right.)

Uncle Khal on his playground, getting his daily exercise. He comes over for some pettin’, and along comes Drum to see what’s going on. Bonus: Fred with the bird report at the end. (With the cold weather, he’s been refilling the bird bath regularly so that the birds have a water source, and they are appreciating it a great deal.)
Good night innernets. (Shelby & Drum)
That’s Louie in the back, Hewey on the left, and Dewey on the right. They are definitely coming around – I sat down in the bathroom with them for a little while this morning and while no one climbed into my lap, all three came over to sniff me and be petted. I’ve gotten purrs from all three of them. We are well on our way to being best friends!
Ouiser (in the back) is all “GIVE US THE FEATHER TEASER ALREADY, LADY!”
Just a note, if you missed it: Ouiser is adoption pending, Shelby (left) is adoption pending. Drum (middle) and Clairee (right) are still available. Email info (at) ffhsv.org to inquire!

Drum’s showing Shelby who the boss is (and Shelby is not impressed.)

We’ve had the Ducklings for just over a week – and in that week they’ve decided (1) I’m not so bad and (2) they’re not so feral. They’ll now approach me to be petted, and will purr for a bit (before they wander off to play.)
I walked into the bathroom and could NOT find Dewey anywhere. I was on the verge of freaking out when I realized that he was serving as a bed for Huey (you can see a bit of Dewey’s white fur sticking out behind Huey.) I guess he makes a comfy bed (and he was just fine – I lifted Huey up a bit so I could see Dewey, and Dewey just blinked up at me like “Where’d my Huey blanket go?”)

Dewey gets some petting and a belly rub, and I’d say he likes it!
It’s a Clairee basket. (She loves to just sit there in that basket and keep an eye on everyone.)

Ouiser really likes this orange toy (it’s a Whisker City® Spring Toy, comes in a pack of 4) and has been having a blast with it lately. Shelby thinks it’s a pretty cool toy, too!

Duckie should arrive Thursday. 🙂
Awwww, thank you Olivia!! (I swear, I wasn’t dropping hints. 🙂 )
❤️ Thank you so much for taking care of the duckies. And all those babies.
After seeing that first pic of Drum and Khal, I’m thinking you need a “pocket” like Mugumogu has for Maru, Hana, and Miri. Also, those Ducklings are absolutely killing me with the cute–what adorable little floofy sweeties they are, even if they do have perhaps a bit more marshmallow fluff between the ears than “normal” kittens. LOL Totally chortling over the mental image of you looking everywhere for Dewey and then finding him UNDER his brother!
(Also, blog maintenance note–there’s currently no link back to 2019’s Jan 22nd post in the “Previously” section, and it’s missing from the 2020 and 2021 entries as well. Had to go find it manually in the archives because I do love to re-read the story of Charles and Caroline and their kittens, they were one of my favorites out of all your foster families!)
I have a sweatshirt around here SOMEWHERE that has a big front pocket on it (it’s actually intended for cats/kittens – or I suppose dogs, or any manner of animal, really) but can I find it? NOPE. (But I’ll keep looking. It’s gotta be here!)
Thanks for letting me know about the missing 2019 link. It’s been remedied!
