Unfortunately, Axle was returned yesterday. He was adopted during the adoption event 2 1/2 weeks ago, and a family member turned out to have allergies, so back he came. He was maybe a little confused, but other than that was fine. He’ll be going to Jones Valley Petsmart later today to join Clutch and Cam (and Ryder, who wants nothing to do with any of ’em.)
You know the drill – email info (at) ffhsv.org if you’re interested in adopting any of them. And I’ll let y’all know when any of them have been adopted!

Today we focus on Khal Drogo, that magnificent beast.
I forgot to dust him off before I took this picture, apparently.
I have no long-ago posts about Khal to share like I did with Kara and Jake, because he’s been with us a relatively short amount of time. I can point you to the very first post I had that included him, from just over 3 years ago. That’s when he first showed up, but then he stopped showing up for long periods of time, which makes me wonder where he was hanging out when he wasn’t around our house. He showed up again at around the end of November 2016, and Fred got serious about taming him. It’s amazing to think that when we moved to this house at the end of November last year, I could barely touch Khal, and now if I’m not laying on the couch to watch TV by 6:00, he comes to yell at me. I’m barely on that couch before Khal is floomped up next to me demanding to be petted.
In recent weeks, he’s started coming upstairs in the evening. He hangs out on the bed with us, and when Fred goes to hand out the Babycat before going to bed, Khal gets a share. Then Fred goes to bed, and about 25% of the time Khal comes back into my room to hang out with me. He’s slept with me, as far as I know, three times.
I fully expect that this time next year I’ll be saying that I can barely remember a time when Khal wasn’t flopped across my face all night long.

i’m so glad axle has sibs to be with <3
it's odd to me that ryder doesn't want anything to do with any of them — but my only recent (ish) experience with a mama cat was emdee 14 years ago. until she was dying (inoperable tumour in her ear impinging on her brain) she loved her babies, who turned 9 the year she died. the first time i heard her truly snarl at one was the week before she died.
but she was one kitty, and maybe she was the outlier.
oh my gosh, khal is such a beauty. i hadn't realised he was still so wild when you moved in, nor that it's been over a year O.O
wibbly wobbly time tracking, me.
i'm so glad he's coming around and turning into a lover <3
It’s been my experience that most mother cats want nothing to do with their kittens (with ANY kittens) once they’re past a certain age. I think your Emdee was a wonderful exception.
i had no idea! i’m glad she was such an exception, though. minerva was especially bonded with her mama; we called her “billycord” because seh was always happiest if she was touching emdee.
and that helps explain our youngest, partially. she and a surviving kitten were rescued from an abusive situation before our new neighbors moved her, and cleo wanted to be here, not at home. finally, with her person’s blessing, we adopted her.
but her son was happy at home, except when he followed his mama over here (not often, though)
Oh, how handsome is Khal! He does his namesake proud, that’s for sure. I think his “Disturbing thoughts” picture has to be one of my favourites.
Kisses to sweet boy Axle! His family (all of their families) will be along shortly for them.
OMG – the Khal fuzz – so much handsome
Khal just needed to know you guys weren’t leaving him…he is such a doozy! And yes, I believe he will be all over you at night eventually… 🙂
I think that a money raiser would be to let Khal’s fans brush him for a fee. I would pay.
Khal’s fans might like that, but judging by Khal’s reactions to strangers (he disappears into another dimension when they show up), they’d have to hunt him down first! 🙂
another thought– In “the Little Prince”. there are wonderful quotes about taming thingsl
Test
I think it’s clear that Khal chose to adopt YOU, not the other way around 😉
I do love Khal the floofy fluffy magnificent shy guy. You know this already. <3 Please pass along a snuggle or three for me?
Robyn, I admit, when you said above that he disappears into another dimension, I thought yep, he's fighting evil and saving lives in an alternate Wisconsin! … and yes, I do feel guilty for linking. That’s a poem written about an alternate version of Khal, and Robyn, I’ll delete the link from this comment if so desired.
